Re: NBA Draft 2018 II
Any chance the team that drafts MPJ gives him a 'redshirt year' to get fully healthy? (especially if he slips to a decent team that doesn't need him as much right away). I'm no back expert so i'm not sure if more inactivity would do more harm than good.

wasnt he fully healthy to play in the ncaa tournament? i would say it would be an overkill. not to mention he can get way better until november anyway.

Sac red-shirted Harry Giles after he played a seemingly healthy, full college season (26 games). Seems like an approach more and more teams are willing to take with players not too far removed from a major injury.

Giles definitely wasn't healthy in college and his injuries were more serious than Porters.

with his build and lack of NBA moves.. I almost guarantee that MPJ will be redshirted with phantom injuries his first year to save face.. it happened this year with Lonzo too lowkey

Re: NBA Draft 2018 II
Porter Jr will probably play in summer league. If he looks terrible there, a team might do it, but his season ended in early March and summer league doesn't begin until July. He will have had a lot of time to get back into true basketball shape.

Duke4life831 wrote:So Ive been going back and watching a lot video of these guys and unless something drastic changes, this will probably be my final big board for this draft.
1. Bagley
2. Bamba
3. Ayton
4. MPJ
5. Carter
6. JJJ
7. Mikal
8. Robert Williams
9. Knox
10. Trevon Duval
I expect my top 10 is going to be drastically different then everyone else's. I'll break down a few things that I think people will have the most questions on. Bagley has been my #1 all year and the combo of size/athleticism/motor/skill foundation is just too hard for me to pass up. Bamba and Ayton are a toss up for me but Im settling on Bamba as my #2. Definitely some recency bias with how Gobert has looked in these playoffs, but ya Bamba over Ayton. Ayton has the highest ceiling in my opinion that motor is still worrisome to me.
Carter over JJJ was very close as well. But the more I watched JJJ the more I began to question his functional athleticism. Offensively I think hes going to never be a guy that creates his own shot and I think hes going to be a really good shot blocker, but not a great overall defender. With that said still high on him at 6, so its not like I think hes going to be junk.
My last 3 probably are a surprise for how high they are. I got them this high because of their potential. I flat out love Williams size, athleticism and ability to rebound and defend. Dont think hes ever going to be all that much offensively, but I think he can be that ultimate glue guy. Knox I think he has very functional athleticism, I like the form on his jumper and I think he has the chance to be more than just a 3&D guy, with a great chance to at minimum becoming a 3&D guy. Duval is probably my biggest reach, I thought he was misused at Duke. He is phenomenal running the PnR and rarely got the chance to run it at Duke. His size/handle/athleticism is all top notch, I also think hes going to be a stud defender as well. I dont think he ever becomes a knock down shooter, but Ive been following his progression as a shooter for a few years now and I really love his progression. The 2nd half of the season he shot 37% from 3 on 3 attempts a game. I think in a few years that jumper will be at least serviceable and with the space and pace of the NBA, I think its really going to open up his game.
Edit: forgot to mention this is just the guys from college

I don't understand this post at all. Porter is ripped and already has plenty of nba moves.

It's ridiculous you have Doncic listed at SF. The guy plays PG for Real Madrid. So until someone changes his position, he should be listed at PG.

Re: NBA Draft 2018 II
Ayton and Robert Williams are skipping the combine. Bagley says hes going, but Im curious if hes going to do the workouts and measurements, or just go there for the interviews. Said it last year and I'll say it again this year, I know it means very little, but I love the idea of a guy going to the combine and doing everything and trying to win that #1 spot. Not saying guys that skip it get a negative view by me, just the top guys that go and workout get a positive point for me.

Running the offense or not, he's going to be defending NBA wings, not NBA PG's.
