Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
I'm excited to see who we get at the top of the draft.
But what TS is able to pull with the latter three picks will go along way towards telling us how he'll operate moving forward. Whether we trade up to get a guy he loves or if we stand pat and simply add depth.
If he's selecting projects with upside, or drafting proven collegiate with established roles and identities.
We'll learn a lot through picks 19, 30 and 33.
(NOTE: I'm predicting polished collegiates with room to grow. No outright projects.)

Prediction: There will be at least one draft and stash if we don't combine picks to move up.

That's a solid prediction. Keep an eye on names like Isaac Bonga (poor man's Diaw) and Elie Okobo (new age Barbosa).

Here’s where my .2% (ok I’ll give you 1%) is super excited that we have Ressler and Schlenk running their new system vs Bud. If Bud is in control, I believe we pick the best players at our given slots,(spurs method) however with the complete tear down build up from the ground procedure we have set ourselves up for, you need to get some big names in here and in order to do that you need to make a splash in the draft. I’m guessing we somehow package Dennis, Baze, #33 #30 and #19 to move up and get ourselves another lotto pick. Super excited about this happening because we have never historically been a team that has moved up in many drafts. Building from scratch has now become a reality for me. It took about three weeks but I’ve made my peace with it. And building with a couple of young studs has my heart beatin like a rabbit!

Fo sho! Wasn’t the last time we brought in 4 rookies in 2005 with Smoove,Childress Donta Smith and Royal Ivey. We won’t be doing that this time. 3 max.

2004, we had 5 picks. #6, #17, #35, #38, #43....Let's hope we do better this draft

I just hope Taylor and Dorsey don't get pushed to the side, depending on 17 and 30, and maybe the second rounders.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

They need to earn their spot.

This is a good point. Throw Bembry on that list as well.
There's only so many minutes to go around.

I hope not, can hardly remember the last guy that truly worked out for this team. I want all our guys in the College Park arena where I can atleast get some good scouting in. So close to the airport, it's almost too perfect to get prospects in and out.
I'd prefer he draft players ready to compete ala Collins. I wouldn't even mind trading back 33 for the Sixers 38-39. Catch some good prospects back to back to and hopefully find a solid role piece.

Ya just the bringing of the 4 rookies to our roster..that’s all I was pointing out.

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
If Philly and/or Cleveland has interest in this kid, it might be possible to dangle our #19 pick and others in an effort to grab their lottery pick.
It might take some finagling.

I don't get this comment. It has us on the list as having expressed interest.
Why wouldn't we just dangle our 19 pick to ourselves and pick the kid?
If they like him enough, why wouldn't they just pick him in the lotto? If they don't think he's a lotto pick, why would they trade down (and thereby miss a player they have rated higher) to pick the guy?

It's just a value thing. I love Wendell Carter. But if we get a top-3 pick...you can't justify picking him that high. I'd trade back, pick up an extra asset and grab him later in the top 10.
Simons is projected to go between 18-23...picking him in the lottery would be an incredibly poor value.
Similar trades happened last year: when Denver traded out of the #13 spot. They really liked OG Anunoby, but acknowledged #13 was too high to select him. So they traded back with Utah and missed out on Anunoby by a pick.
Or when Boston got the #1 pick, loved Tatum...and then traded away the #1 pick for a later selection plus future asset. They got the player they wanted all along, but also garnered yet another asset by a team willing to overpay.
If we love Simons...sure, take him at #19. But if CLE really loves Simons and wants to trade back for him...and if, say Michael Porter Jr is available at that #8 spot -----> a Hawks-Cavs swap could be a viable option.

Moseph Bamba is growing on me fast. After workouts he’s a top 4 pick imo. We need one of these Unicorn guys.

#METOO!!!!
This kid seems like a smart, genial fella. A bit immature, but like a good kid.
And his body has improved drastically since the college season ended!!!
My word...

Hmmm, I'm not sure if your use of this tag is offensive or not. I'm debating if I should report you or not so your future is in my hands.

Seriously though, I told you and @spud yesterday that #LaBamba has shot way up my list. Congrats to you both for getting on the #kgWagon.
