3. Atlanta Hawks

Marvin Bagley III | Duke | Fr | PF

I know I'm in the minority. But let the record show that, if I were in charge of a franchise, I'd probably take Bagley first in this draft. Yes, I understand the concerns about him -- specifically that his incredible production at the collegiate level was mostly the byproduct of superior athleticism and quickness to literally everybody he ever played against, point being the 6-11 forward won't be able to just physically overwhelm people as a professional. And, I concede, he's neither an ideal power forward nor center for the modern NBA. But Bagley is still a consensus top-ranked high school player who averaged 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds in one year of college for a great ACC team. Simply put, I think he'll figure it out. And I personally project him as a future All-Star.

19. Atlanta Hawks

Dzanan Musa | International | SF

Musa is a 19-year-old Bosnian who averaged 20.2 minutes this season for Cedevita in the Adriatic League. The 6-8 wing has long had a reputation with scouts as a potential quality scorer in the NBA. The only concern is whether he's a good-enough athlete, and mature enough, to guard his position and flourish in general when he moves to the United States. But that concern shouldn't keep somebody -- especially a franchise with three first-round picks like Atlanta -- from selecting Musa in the first round.

So Consuela made it back with the bag huh! She owed you a score!

Picking third really should make things easier for Schlenk. Ayton and Doncic off the board, you have Bagley, JJJ, Porter, bamba and maybe Young in play. I guess that's my order of pref, but JJJ might fit better with Collins on both sides of the ball.

Hmmm, not don’t agree that it makes it easier, if anything it makes it harder. When you have two consensus top 2 guys, that’s the easy part, after that it’s a tough call to see if you got the right guy.

Having said that, I think it’s a top 5-7 player draft.

Agree 100%.

Which is why I support trading back a few spots and collecting assets.

Memphis seems desperate for a star like Bagley. Let's use that.

Dallas and Orlando just seem desperate.

It doesn't make it easier, it does the opposite and makes it harder. With the top two sure things off the board, now the Hawks have to find the one Curry, the one Harden, the one Kawhi, the one Westbrook, in a field of 6-7 players.

After Rose and Beasley, the competition for 3rd best prospect was really tight with Westbrook, Mayo, Kevin Love, Gallinari, Eric Gordon, and Joe Alexander all considered to be equal in talent, and Westbrook was considered by alot as the riskiest pick of the bunch.

It is never a 5-7 player draft, their is no such thing. You would be lucky to get 4 legit franchise players in the first 8 picks. Just look at the 2003 and 2014 draft. Most likely their will only be 3 legit franchise players in this draft.

He claimed he moved on from Consuela months ago. Perhaps she walked in on some business and well, if you know ma$e you know he don't want no witnesses strutting around. He's been real hush-hush about the whole thing but he has a totally new staff to peel his grapes.

On topic, I'm really getting intrigued by the Simmons kid a 19 then a wing prospect at 30 like Brown or Divicenzo(sp?). We really have a chance to stock the cupboards with talent here.

I no longer want to see us trade unless it's a godfather deal the caliber of which I don't think Schlenki has the gonads to pull off.

I don't like the idea of drafting for 'fit next to Collins'.
Go BPA.

Anfernee Simons reminds me quite a bit of Monta Ellis.

For better and for worse.

Hopefully we'd be able to develop him to be significantly better than that.

If you have two players rated about equal, which is the case for Bagley and JJJ for me, then fit deffinately becomes the tie-breaker. I also just think that JJJ has much better D and a much better shot. Like having that in the front-court Collins or no

Man, I hate Fansided.

Michigan State Basketball: Jaren Jackson Jr. could be Hawks’ centerpiece

For two Michigan State basketball stars, Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr., they got a better idea of just where they may be headed in 2018-19. Both have decided to forgo their final years of eligibility at Michigan State to live out their dreams early in the NBA.

The younger of the two, Jackson Jr., looks to be one of this year’s top-three prospects behind the likes of DeAndre Ayton and Luca Doncic.

Now that the draft order is set, it looks as if he will be headed to Atlanta to play for the Hawks as a rookie. They were obviously one of the NBA’s worst teams in 2017-18 and they don’t have a power forward like Jackson Jr. who can take over a game and become a true star on both ends of the court.

If the Hawks were to draft Jackson Jr., he’d likely be the franchise’s centerpiece. He would become that player who the front office builds around, joining solid point guard Dennis Schroder, Prince and John Collins.
This is SPARTA!!!

My short-list looks like this:

Any top 15 that slides needs to be looked at; or
D Musa
T Brown
G Trent

Love Musa, should be a nice scorer. All these guys have a chance to develop into solid starters, maybe more.

Really hope TS can pull a move up with one of the late picks and something.
