Jones is 21, has a ts% of 57%, was 7th among point guards in RPM, and really knows how to run a smooth offense IMO.
If the guys I like at 22 are all gone (Robinson, Simons, Zhaire, Walker, Knox, Williams, Musa), I would trade it for Jones and hope he breaks out with more minutes.
Guy simply isn't worth the 22. I'd take Jones with Aldrich just to open cap flexibility for Minnesota. No chance I'd trade a pick like 22 for one season of Jones.
Jones would be a long term piece.
Give me someone tangible you're drafting at 22 that I didn't list.
Your trade is obviosuly better for the Bulls, but I can't see Minnesota doing that.
I'm not trading 22 in the draft to get a THIRD PG on the fourth year of their rookie deal for next season. I don't know what Tyus Jones has really shown to be worth a first, which is incredibly valuable in today's NBA judging by the trade deadline.
The idea that the draft is going to "run out" of guys i'd want at 22 to take a guard that just got replaced end of the year by an off-the-street Derrick Rose in the rotation is simply overpaying. I don't have to give a list because there is a zero percent chance that at 22 of any draft I'm going to say "I'm out of guys I like". No draft is ever that shallow.
Minnesota is in cap hell, giving them any salvation to improve the team while not going in to the tax is probably worth it for them and saving nine million helps them use the MLE to get a more valuable player than Jones.
