Not trying to attack you, but how has he been 'cute'? I think the gameplan has been fairly straightforward and devolved into iso-ball often, which isn't 'cute,' moreso fighting fire with fire. What's your recommendation here?
He needs to get Curry in more PnR actions and his rotations have to be better.
He overplayed Looney far too much in game 4 when he was offering nothing. He seems to stuck in his way to make some obvious changes.
If something isn't working, make the change. Make the adjustment.
He's a good coach, but the playoffs are a different animal and IMO he has coached poorly in them overall since his 1st title.
During the 2015 finals, the Cavs were in control and Kerr changes the series by inserting Iggy into the starting line-up. He went away from the routine and won the series. He keeps sticking to it now and it's failing.
The Rockets are a great team, but the Warriors losing to them with how talented they are would be a huge embarrassing blemish on Kerr again.
Yeh, Curry as the primary in a PnR for sure needs to happen more. He's not getting separation off ball. So that action turns into an iso anyway. Re: Looney, I really am at a loss for what you do there. Play Shaun more I guess, but our starters were already 40+ minutes each last game - do you want them to play even more, then throw an extra 27 minutes onto Shaun's workload?
One of Looney/Bell/Young will need to play big minutes with iguodala out. It's just realistic to say we can't avoid that happening.
Also to the point of him being inflexible, he's changed his starting lineup in every series this playoffs IIRC. He also went from an iso-heavy gameplan in 1+2 to a more fluid system in game 3. He coached the last few minutes last game poorly, yes, but you're cherry picking if you're trying to say he's been bad in the playoffs.
Bell played well in game 4. If he continues to play well, I'd ride him over Looney(assuming Looney does poorly again)
I don't think Livingston has been great this series, but he does pose some match-up problems offensively and he'll be flexible defensively.
The point isn't that I think Looney shouldn't see the floor, it's that Kerr to seems to impose too much trust on players when it's not going well and he takes too long to make obvious changes.
To say he coached the last few minutes poorly is an understatement. It was horrific coaching from Kerr. Cost them the game imo.
I don't think he's been bad in the playoffs, but he could be better.
