The CL loss was one of the better ways to lose. The team is angry and some flaws (lack of depth and goalkeeping) got exposed. If they had just got their asses handed to them fair and square, it would have been demoralizing.
There are rumors of a huge transfer warchest. Between the CL money and Coutinho cash, it should be greater than 200m pounds. Liverpool already has Keita coming in. They need another winger, a CAM, a DM and a GK. If they can get several world class players to fill those holes, Liverpool will be even tougher next year.
Yeah, I hope you are right. I think we're pretty close for a challenge. Little better on the D....little more depth, and I think we can do it. Need a little bit better attitude towards 'lesser competition' IMO. That's on the coach.
Man-C had one of those seasons. You get 100 points, and your gonna win yourself a title. But even if you bring them down to 90...we're still 15 points shy this year. 12 draws is far too many. Cut that in half, and your getting close.
Liverpool actually had 10 points from their first 8 games. Last summer was a fiasco with RB refusing to sell Keita, Southampton with VVD, Coutinho refusing to play, Ox getting picked up at the last minute, etc. It all worked out in the end but Liverpool's title shot was over before November.
They need to get their business done quick and start off fast next year.
The rest of the season, Liverpool played at a 95 point pace and that included several draws against low ranked teams as Liverpool played their B team in trying to prepare for CL games. 95 points will win in a lot of years. From when van Dijk signed to the end of the season, Liverpool had the lowest GAA in the league.
There is reason for optimism. Just don't sell Salah or something and this should be fun.
