Let's say LeBron would sign with us if we got Kawaii. And the only way to get Leonard is by dealing Jackson and the #1.
Would you do it?

Consider our defense would improve and we'd have 2 superstars next to Booker for the next 3-4 years.
We then maneuver to add a shooter somewhere.

I'm not saying I'd def do it, but knowing it would assure us a likely deep playoff run, it would be hard to turn that down.

I think Lebron, Claw and PG are going to go to LA. I think it's been planned.

https://hoopshype.com/2018/02/08/los-angeles-lakers-isaiah-thomas-trade-cap-space-free-agency-max-deals-2018-2019/

They will sign Lebron and PG outright.

They then still have enough assets to make a play for the Claw plus a guy like Kemba.

Imagine:

-Kemba
-Claw
-PG
-Lebron
- Who carees

They bring back Lopez, Frye, and add 2-4 more ring chasers. Hell, they even still have IT's bird rights.

Even if they lose Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Randle, and picks in the process...it will be worth it.

If the Lakers add picks to this, it's hard to see SAS get a better offer.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y73vjaxt

Ball could even be sent to a 3rd team in exchange for another asset.

Look, i was one that always said Lebron wouldnt go to LA, because of the team in place and having other better options, but i do have to say it looks more and more like he just might. Saw he just sank a ton of money into his LA mansion. He lives there in the offseason. Why not just play for LA and be able to be there all the time. And looking at the current cavs team, i dont think they would beat the Lakers if they didnt have Lebron. The fact that they can make the moves to obtain other stars will be detrimental. I think they will have to trade for a star player first.......and that would help lure in Lebron.....and in turn that is how you get PG. I think George is and would be just fine staying in OKC, but man, if LA did get Lebron (along with that other star), it would be hard for him to turn that opportunity down. I also think that IT could be convinced to take less than the "Brinx Truck" to stay in LA and be apart of the super team, so no need to go after Kemba. IT would fit in fine with that squad, since Lebron is a point-forward, all he needs a PG to do is to hit shots when he passes the ball, and thats IT strong suit.

But yeah, i could see LA making a big play by offering the Spurs Ball/Ingram/Frye and a future 1st or two for Kawhi. Dont know how Coach Pop or the Spurs would deal with Lavar, but i think that organization could turn Ball into the best player he could be. Ingram replaces Kawhi at the SF spot, and would fit in great since he is kinda a point forward with great passing skills.

They trade for Kawhi, sign Lebron which allows them to maybe sign George as well. Since its LA, im sure they would be more than fine exceeding the lux cap. After all that, exceed the cap by re-inking their own guys IT and Lopez (Who would fit in just fine in that 3 point shooting Love role) and Randle...... and they still have Kuzma locked in dirt cheap for the next 3 years.

IT/George/Kawhi/Lebron/Lopez ........Payton2/Hart/Kuzma/Randle/Zubac

Thats a hell of a lot better than Cleveland.....or OKC....or San Antonio.

I really hope that doesn't happen. Too much of a concentration of talent in Cali. Spread it around, we need more conference parity and the west is already stacked as it is :noway:

They can't keep Randle if they sign Lebron and PG. Would be an opportunity for us to grab him. I'm really high on Randle in general, though not positive he's a great fit for this team. Think he, Ayton, Bender and a small 3&D 4 like Aminu or Mbah a Moute make for an interesting front court rotation.

What do Lebron and PG’s max contracts start at for if they sign with another team? Can they sign both without dumping Deng with Ingram?

They sure as hell can! All they need to do is open up enough capspace to sign Lebron and George. From there they can spend whatever they want and go over the cap to whatever extent it takes to re-sign their own players. SO even if LBJ/PG takes them right up to the cap, they can spend whatever on keeping their own players like IT/Lopez/Randle.

PG would be around 4 years for 130.6 mill on Birds Rights, or he can sign a short-term two year contract to bridge the gap on his service time until he becomes a 10-year veteran to take up 35 percent of the cap to result in a total compensation of 280 mill for 7 years. Four years, $152 million for Lebron

So about 65 mil combined. They could sign both guys stretch Deng then trade Lonzo for a better fitting PG plus absorb a contract while staying under. More importantly keeping Ingram and Kuzma.

Spurs are not a hack organization though so they won't trade him to a rival that will prevent themselves from making the finals.

.Knicks is the favorite team to trade with... But that's only after Kawhi signs his super max.... That's most important to him.

Not really. They can't clear that space without renouncing those cap holds and in turn losing the bird rights.
