How are both possible?
It's up to Morey to figure it out.

I'd offer him 4 years, $160 million. Why bid against themselves? Literally nobody can offer him more money or a better winning situation. Plus no state income tax in Texas. He's going to what, turn that down to make less money on a worse team out of spite?
I came in here to post this. I don't know why teams automatically pay the max when they can still be the highest bidder on a smaller deal. I'd go up to 4/180 at most, if he wants to make less money on a third team in three years, let him.

On a 1 year deal - just to knock off GSW one time? No way LeBron spends 5 years in Houston, right?

When you think about it though, there probably are quite a few teams that would offer him a max...not for 5 years though, probably not even 4...

You don't give a 33 year old constantly injured point guard a 200 million dollar max contract. That's just insane. It's not like Paul has any other options. Lowball him and let him cry about it. What are you telling me players are going to refuse to sign with the Rockets if they do that? lmao
