Doncic verbalizes that he loves to be "the hero" and nobody bats an eyelash because he's such a loveable darling. Let MPJ say anything close to that and he's a no good chucker that doesn't need to be anywhere near this team with his busted back.
The problem with this is that Doncic's game is very clearly that of an unselfish and team oriented player. I mean, its his actual thing. Whereas Portis' actual thing is shooting and doing nothing else. Context matters to how and why people react to things the way they do.
MPJ likens himself to all-time great players and people react as if he's the first guy in history to do that. Mind you...I am not sold on MPJ by the way. But I find the reaction quite amusing.
And the problem with this is that manner in which Porter did that was completely detached from reality. I mean, he said he likes to drive more than Durant! He has neither the physical ability nor the inclination to be the player he described. After watching the Rose saga unfold, I've learned that confidence is great. Delusion isn't.
