Right now, yes. Two to three years down the line? Necessary. The NBA has been evolving at a rapid pace over the past few seasons with the increasing importance of spacing and ball movement.
The idea of all of this is to be ahead of the curve and have your pieces in place first rather than adjusting to what the rest of the league is already doing. To me, more than anything, it seems as if it's a natural evolution of what's happening already. You're going to have your Gobert exceptions, but for the most part I think this is the way the league is going to go.
