History decides those things unless you have a time machine.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Just sucks we missed out on Doncic or Bagley literally on a coin flip though.
We won a game by signing a player who has no long-term benefit to this team.

I like him if we use him correctly

I think it was just circumstances. The impact players in this draft were mostly bigs. The one wing who was the exception has what appear to be very serious health concerns. You can't take the chance of drafting someone who is an inferior player or has health issues and end up not getting anything out of this pick after a full season of tanking.Just_Bullz wrote:Not a fan of drafting bigs in an era where SFs and PGs are the difference makers. Unless management sees WCJ having the ability to create an impact ala prime Noah, this could be just a decision to replace Rolo.
Would rather take Sexton or Miles Bridges with the pick at that stage. I'm actually more excited with Chandler Hutchinson instead. Hope I eat crow on this though.

Said this months ago, get a bigman this year, next year draft a wing. 2019 is loaded with wing/perimeter players.

I am no great basketball evaluator but I did enjoy watching WCJ highlights the past two days. He seems a TON more athletic than he's made out to be on the board. But highlights make everyone look like Kareem so I took it with a grain of salt.
Reading this case for him though got me excited.

He sounds like he is severely underrated in so many facets of his game. We still need an mvp caliber wing or pg to contend... but WCJ could be a real get and offer opponents a Sophie's choice when dealing with him and Lauri.

There are also the new lottery rules. The highest odds for #1 is roughly one in seven. The fifth seed will have better than one in ten, and 9th has almost one in 20.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

All I can say is that it's a 'glass half full' vs. 'glass half empty' comparison at best, when you look at rebounding numbers between Bagley and Carter.
I don't see a player spending "most of his time on the perimeter" getting 11 rebounds a game in 34 minutes of playing time, and I wouldn't call 9 rebounds per game in an average of 27 minutes "inflated" unless we were talking about a Point Guard.
Both players averaged about a rebound every 3 minutes of regulation. At best it's a wash and, therefore, not a point of comparison or difference.
It's swings and roundabouts after that.
Both shot 40% from the arc, but Bagley averaged 2 attempts per game to Carter's 1. Yet, Carter is the better free throw shooter, considered a more accurate indicator of shooting form, which is noticeable if you see the two shoot.
More importantly, Carter blocked 2 shots a game to Bagley's 1. For a team that needed rim protection, Carter was the right choice.

Of the bigs in this draft I think Carter was the second best fit for the Bulls after JJJ. Comparing Carter and Bagley reminds me of Horford and Noah, only this time the Bulls got Horford. I was initially down about the pick not because of my evaluation of Carter, he'll be fine, but more because I felt the Bulls didn't maximize opportunities to collect future assets.
I watched the youtube vid of Carter going head to head with Ayton. It looks to me like Lauri's going to have to guard Ayton when he comes to town cause Carter didn't bother Ayton's shot one bit. However, Carter will be very useful protecting the rim when guards (or whoever Zach's defending) get into the lane and we've needed that since we lost Taj.

Watched some tape of Carter without Bagley. Completely different player offensively. Seems like he took a backseat when Bagley was in.

The key to WCJ is him having that same balance he had with Bagley with Lauri, but better.

Indeed, in that they’re both taller guys.
I’m not sure there are many more similarities beyond that, but yeah, pretty spot on analysis.

As others have said, the more and more you watch Wendell, the more excited I am about getting him.
The thing I think is forgotten, if MBIII wouldn't have gone to Duke, WCJ would have been a sure fire top 5 pick. He was beastly when MBIII missed games. So in essence, we haven't even seen the best of Carter just yet.

I keep hearing Bulls fans call into sports radio shows and compare WCJ to Taj Gibson. What are they smoking? Taj was a defensive specialist for the majority of his NBA career, he had very little offense to speak of.

Duke associate head coach John Scheyer was on Waddle & Silvy and said if he'd compare WCJ to anyone it'd be Al Horford. Bulls fans were salivating at the idea of pairing Horford up with Noah back when both were in their prime.
