Calling him a 3 and D guy is insulting. He is way more versatile than you realize.

Agreed. Joe Ingles is so much more than a 3 and D guy. He can also get into the head of a guy like Paul George and make him lose his game in the playoffs. And he has point guard skills despite being so big.

Nobody has ever accused Ingles of being a 3 and D guy.

And yet he appears to be one of the most high impact players in the league. When Embiid is on the court the Sixers regularly play like a title contender and when he leaves the game or sits out they usually don't. If you were putting together a list of highest impact players in the league you'd only have a handful before you had to include Embiid.

He’s a really good player, but people act like he’s top 10 in impact, when he’s not.

There are way more overrated players in this game than Paul George.

Toe to toe in a sweep? That involved at least one Pacers collapse that I can recall.

Yes they did, right here:

Paul George said it before the series began:

“Just pressure [Ingles], that’s the mindset,” George said. “It’s very, very unlikely he’ll beat me off the dribble. I’ll take my chances with the foot speed. Ingles is really just a 3 and D player in the end..."

You can see P. George say it if you can read his lips. "You are nothing but a a 3 and D player, Ingles, I am so much more than that" said George.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

 I'm just messing around about the 3 and D part, I added that line. But the rest of it is totally what P. George did say and do.

I would love to see Ingles pump fake a 3 and then drive by George for a finger roll and then chant "3 and D, 3 and D" to him on his way back down the court. Would be so great.

George wouldn't get it but it would still be great.

I still want him on the Lakers but he is a little overrated. PG13's game is aesthetically pleasing to watch though.

I thought Indiana was doomed after they traded him but crazy enough they ended up with the better player in Oladipo.

I think his defense is overrated. IMO, in the games I watch and looking at the stats, it is simply good but inconsistent. Not elite.

If you look simply at stats, they actually make a case that he is merely average.
DRPM: 0.65 which is 28th among small forwards (and it's been inconsistent since 2014-15)
DRAPM: -0.03
DRtg difference when on court vs off court: the team was 1.9 points better defensively with him off the court

I get that he is really athletic and big and gets a lot of steals and guard a lot of positions and he's had season where I would call him an elite defender (2013-4).

Maybe the stats aren't capturing something with Paul George (for example, maybe he only plays when the opposing team's best offensive player is playing or Donovan only plays him with a defensive liability and multicollinearity is a legit concern). Maybe the stats are just unlucky and were swayed by some outlier case (players he's not guarding just get really hot offensively). But you would think an elite defender would put up better than average defensive stats.

I agree with the great mathematician and that goes for Simmons as well. Down the road both will be top 10 but not now. Covington, Oladipo (included VO) and Embiid are not all defensive team worthy. Steals and blocks =/ all Defensive team. How does a team with Embiid, Covington and Simmons lose to the Celtics because Tatum, Rozier, Brown and Horford were playing well above their averages offensively? Tatum averaged 24 pts as a 19 year old rookie while Smart also having a great series. Embiid plays more like KAT or Cousins. I'd take Smart over Covington not only for defensive purposes but because he's a better overall player.

76ers' potential is still very high but I don't see it yet. Their core gets overrated. Fultz doesn't fit on that team because of Simmons and Fultz can't shoot. Imo, Lebron should join the Celtics and make amends with Kyrie. If not the Celtics, join Kahwi in LA, Harden in Houston or even the Warriors before considering the 76ers.
Professional sports is idolatry.

Did you see him shutdown Miami's whole offense in the playoffs ? it was like a giant boat anchor sitting in the middle of the arc...

Paul George re-signs with OKC, they’ll be the first team in NBA history with a tax bill almost $300 mill.
