there is a major difference between being expected to win a series and getting swept 2 years in a row.
i didn't expect the raptors to beat the cavs but to be swept two years in a row, especially this year while both indy and celtics pushed them to 7 is a knock on casey's inability to figure out a way to defend them. he was lauded as a defensive coach but put up almost zero resistance to their offense.
also, ujiri forced casey into the new offense this year...and this was the first year in 5 that our offense actually held up in the playoffs and not be horribad iso like it was the previous 4.
casey got alot out of our players but the team constantly underperformed in the playoffs b/c of his offense for the first four years. if we pushed cavs to 6 or 7 this year, he's back. i think it's that simple. being swept again while providing almost zero resistance on the defensive end is unacceptable and that's a big strike against casey.
with all that said - new coach, new team, new org. there is no telling how he will perform in detroit. he could be great, horrible or mediocre. on time will reveal all.
