Very true, the market has been very quiet on all of the bigger name restricted free agents like Clint Capela, Jabari Parker, Zach Lavine, Jusuf Nurkic, Marcus Smart, etc. I think we are going to be able to bring Marcus Smart back at an affordable price.
Great call. I mean Capela, Lavine are freaking cornerstones of the teams they're on. Hell Lavine at the time was considered the cornerstone of the Jimmy Bulter trade... they will match anything for these guys.
But without a market they really don't have to fear them leaving...
Parker and Nurkic are also very valuable members of the teams they're on.
I don't even know what teams have capspace left. According to this article the 76ers have 17 million and the Lakers have 10 million left. Pacers have 13 million that might be going to Tyreke Evans shortly (really hope that happens, if that's the case there's no one the 76ers could bring in with their money that I'd be concerned about).
https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/6/28/17507448/nba-free-agency-cap-space-2018Capela and Lavine would be matched even for max contracts. Do they like Smart gamble on a one year QO and become unrestricted next year where it looks like there will be a NUMBER of teams with money to throw around?
Apparently the Hawks and Bulls have 20 mill plus money, have to think one of them will throw it at the Nurkic and Parkers of the world. Non max players but are young and good.
It seems like unless you want to goto the Hawks or Bulls there is no team with real max space to throw at Lavine and Capela. They should just take the QO and become free agents next year where they can just sign with a bad team for a full max.
