No, it's not. But thanks for trying to cheer up us Knick fans.

Giving 20 mill a season to a *slightly* better than average at best SG is no way to rebuild

They should have gone for an S&T with the Kings and tried to get back Buddy.

simonbampfield wrote:Spens1 wrote:simonbampfield wrote:And why would the Kings ever be interested in such a deal?
The Kings simply knew, through doing their homework the Bulls were going to match as they offered Lavine not a whole lot less, but it also restricts the Bulls at taking on salary so it’s now only the Kings and Hawks that can do so, thus lowering other teams leverage when it comes to trades taking on salary (which imo the market isn’t as big as some would like to admit so I don’t see it being a great route at this point in time, but that’s another story).
It was a contract that Vlade could absolutely live with and wanted if it didn’t get matched, because how many FAs have ever signed in Sacramento, let alone a 23yo with high offensive upside. I mean actually EVER? That contract also staggers with Fox, Bagley, Buddy, Giles & Bogdan quite well whereas if it’s used next year it’s going to run into Buddy and Bogdan too quickly.
The Kings did their due diligence on Lavine and would be happy either way, but at no point would any team ever attach an asset such as Buddy to do a S&T in this situation.

bull your front office knew anything, they went after a 3rd S.G (probably your strongest position) when you have so many other glaring holes on your roster (you have no starting quality S.F. and your best centre is WCS). and don't say positionless basketball because all 3 of them would get eaten alive playing S.F. or guarding proper small forwards.
This contract has every chance of being the next Chandler Parsons type deal, an ACL is no joke, especially at that age.
First of all let’s find out what the injury provisions in the contract were before proclaiming it the next Chandler Parsons contract.
Secondly, so your trying to tell me that the Chicago Sun Times has league sources that knew the Bulls offered him 8 million less and that they would essentially match the offer, but drag it out. But oh no the team that signed him had no idea what they were going up against? Please, that my friend is Bull!
Again, the Kings did their homework on this, they were prepared to have Lavine on the team, that’s the key here and it’s pretty obvious if you just do a little research from the Bulls and Kings sides.

He plays like early JR Smith, the version that didn't defend. For context, over the last two years, his real +/- on defense has equaled Derrick Rose's.

You haven't proven yourself very knowledgeable on this matter.
1. Lavine is much younger than either Parsons or Gallo. Parsons was 28 when he signed his deal and had already had 3+ seasons missing nearly 20 games. Gallo is an injury nightmare that's no secret and has been an issue for years and years. Lavine had 1 injury and other than that has stayed healthy.
2. How the hell do you know what vlade knew? Lavines agent (long time agent, many clients including former King pg collison) could have brought vlade a contract from the bulls showing 4/72 and said listen we know they match we need your help and next year when Oubre and a few of my other guys are up I'll return the favor.
You dont think agent/GM relationships are important? And if we did get lavine, you are wrong about bogdan. Long term hes a small forward. In this versatile nba where wings are wings and forwards are forwards it's a joke to say a guy whose 6'6 is incapable of playing on the wing. Lets go ask stevens and ainge what they think about that. Or Morey and Meyers who are playing centers who are 6'7 and 6'6

again, why another S.G though? Is Lavine going to be that much better than Bogdanovic or Hield to warrant that huge contract? Probably not.

Perhaps it was because Vlades vision for the team, rightly or wrongly was Fox/Lavine/Bogdan with Buddy off the bench as he did last season and Lavine/Bogdan can switch between the 1-2 as well.
There was certainly enough room there for Lavine, even though we still had the likes of Temple/Shump/Jackson etc on the roster.

it still seems like a hell of a lot of money for a guy coming back from an ACL and combining for 71 games over the last 2 seasons. He certainly can be a player worth that much but it still. I think the Kings, if they wanted an athletic player should have gone for a max on Aaron Gordon or someone like that, i mean the Magic would match most likely but it shows intention at least.

The joke would be on them. Danny Ainge wouldn’t match that lol.
