Yes ageee Boston doesn’t need Leonard to make it out of the east. I expect a healthy Boston team to win 60-65 games next season. But they don’t want Philly getting him either. Don’t think Boston can beat philly with healthy Leonard. That’s my opinion and Boston fans will disagree.
As for assets. Rozier is not that good. He was inconsistent especially on the road. And more importantly the Spurs have no need for rozier. They have a younger/cheaper/taller and better defensive point guard (Murray) and a reliable backup (mills) even with Parker leaving. Spurs would have even less playing time for rozier than Boston has.
Have you seen the potential 2019 nba draft? It’s no where deep in talent as the 2018 nba draft. The sac pick becomes devalued quickly unless sac pick is guaranteed to be 2-3. And if sac is really bad and ends up #1. Than San Antonio is really screwed cause they end up with philly pick which is likely 25-27 range.
Marcus smart is restricted free agent and pretty much market for him has dried up unless he’s willing to take less money. Marcus Morris play is always unbalanced. And I’ve followed both Morris brothers since they were at Kansas.
As for what philly is supposedly offering. Covington is first team all nba defensive. He’s on a team friendly contract since his extension was front loaded. Yes. Covington drives philly fans crazy as well with dumb plays like the Morris brothers. He’s streaky shooter and is inconsistent.
Saric has a lower ceiling limited athletic but he’s 6 foot 10. He pretty much gives you 15/7 every night. And he’s more consistent than rozier and is just as cheaper as rozier
Plus philly is likely throwing in Miami unprotected 1st round 2021 pick. Who knows how bad Miami will be in 2021. But it’s unprotected and that may be first high school class to re enter.
What ainge is offering (supposedly) rozier/marcus Morris/smart (has to be a sign and trade and smart has to be agreeable to terms of extension) Plus sac pick (protected 1) or Memphis pick (protected 1-8) isn’t more than philly offering
San Antonio obviously feels neither offer is enticing enough though.
This is what happens when I gloss over posts; I didn't notice like everyone else did that you downplayed the Kings pick for next year yet then tried to make an argument that a pick three seasons from now will be better.![]()
I found it real suspicious as is that Sixers fans were pouring onto our board, but yea, it's clear you've done it in questionable faith. You gotta come cleaner than that, guys.
The Kings pick is a crapshot. Any team who possesses the kings pick for 2019 is dealing with a lot of unknowns.
Look at Danny Ainge draft history
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Celtics_draft_history
Unless the King pick ends up 2 or 3. Chances of selecting anyone of real value dramatically goes down. It’s a weak 2019 nba draft. Not saying you can find a diamond on the rough outside of the top 3. But who exactly has ainge drafted has become an all star.
This isn’t on ainge or any gm. It’s just how the nba works. Unless you are getting a guarantee top 3 nba draft pick. Ur chances of selecting players who can star dramatically go down.
Just look at the cavaliers getting the nets pick. Everyone was high on the draft “asset” when it was traded. But it became 8th overall. The nba probability talent pool for elite talent goes down quickly outside the top 3.
I think I’m being reasonable. I’ve addressed Covington and Saric’s negative.
Boston fans know rozier and smart and Morris negatives as well.
The spurs are biting regardless cause they would rather let Leonard walk and rebuild than be stuck in mediocrity with solid nba players but players who can’t impact games on a nighthly level.
Try being credible for just a moment. The Kings pick easily beats your alleged offer all by itself.
