I hope they come to an agreement on a deal and both sides come away happy and ready to roll, but if it does come down to the QO then I still expect him to ball out next year, being a contract year for him and all.

He's a big part of their current success and one of my more favorite players to watch, but really I just don't want to see Mr. E burn us all alive if Swiss ends up in a different uniform next year.

Every team Melo has played on in the last 4 or so years has not played well, and he has had a negative influence on them for whatever reason. What you get paid is irrevelant....he has proven to not be a positive for teams, thus the hate in this thread.

Meh, for a bench scorer he may be ok. Problem is he is exploitable on defense.

People expecting him to score in bunches are delusional. He'll score, it will just take him a lot of shots to get there and disrupt the team at the same time. Melo only knows how to play one way and he hasn't done that well for over a decade now.

But the word 'almost' is key here. Carmelo over 20 mins/game is a guaranteed negative.

Not if the only way he gets to plays 20 minutes is if he's playing well.

Melo will have one job in the Rockets offense and it will be to shoot. The Rockets are a one pass offense so almost every time Melo touches the ball he will have the green light. He will play Anderson's role but will offer more versatility.

He isn't being brought in to replace Ariza. The Rockets will look for ways to fill that hole through buyouts or trade.

Technically Part 3, remember D'Antoni was a horrible hire.

Don't have a clue at this point, hurts that you guys took Luc back from us. Don't understand why he didn't sign him with our MLE (perhaps we weren't aware Melo was getting a full buyout at the time and couldn't guarantee Luc the money).

Many Rocket fans are assuming we will give D.Melton a 3-year deal, which would reduce our taxpayers MLE to 4.3 million. We also have I.Hartenstein, who we intend on signing, there is potential that he could get a 3-year deal as well.

After all the years, would still like to kick the tires on Llull if we could. The remaining free agent market is very dry. If we gave both Melton and Hartenstein 3-years deal, I would love to offer Nogueria a 2/7 deal (with an NG/team option for the 2nd year). We could still very much use a 3rd center with Nene being rather injury prone at his age.

Then, of course, there is always the option of waiting for buyouts or chasing other overseas players.

Ironically, by far the bigger problem HOU had against GSW last year was HOU's offense.

:o

actually the biggest problem vs gsw were the refs and the health...i hope morey is signing foster and brothers under the table while cp3 is learning from harden how to stay healthy

You don't even have to watch the video to see that those are fouls, and yet Scott Foster stood ten feet away and stayed silent. NBA researchers in the future will be aghast when they go through the film of games 6 and 7.

They'll use it mid season most likely.

Part of it will be used on De'Anthony Melton so that we can lock him up for three years and have him be restricted/team option for a fourth year. The rest will be used on a buyout player during the season.

I didn't want Melo, but every one of those teams were different than Houston in two important ways:

1. They didn't have Chris Paul.
2. They were stuck with Melo. The Rockets are paying him 2.4 mil. If we're better off without him, we waive him.

Whatever it is, he'll be restricted if we take the money from the MLE, if I understand correctly. I get my cap info second hand. I don't actually read that stuff.
