Re: Bullock
Actually to correct misinformation I was passing on - We have Bullock's Full Bird Rights still it seems. He signed a two year contract here but since we were re-signing him after we traded for him coming off a three year+ contract he have his FBR even after pulling his QO and making him a UFA - doing that doesn't void Bird Rights. What we don't have is the right to match an offersheet anymore as he is a UFA again, but we can offer any amount over and above to keep him.
So we'd also be trading his Bird Rights if we did move him.

Not sure why people are thinking Bullock is going to sign a big contract. Realistically, he's the type of guy that any team would be happy to have ..... on the bench. The free agent market hasn't been particularly kind to those sort of players recently. Most of those guys are getting 1-2 year deals and most are at a fraction of the MLE.

Probably because they saw the old FO give $8 mil to guys who can't play at all and figure a guy who can play, even if it's limited, will cost $12 mil.

Bullock should come on a decent contract. There’s going to be a ton of big FA and probably not enough money league wide like we saw somewhat this offseason.

Timing is going to be brutal.
It'll be interesting to see how teams spend this summer and next. There's a mini bump to the cap coming up and the terrible deals from 2016 begin to wash off this summer, and are all but gone next summer. A lot of teams are setting themselves up for cap room. Will they learn from 2016 (one would hope...) or are they going to be dropping crazy money all over again when they get a hint of space.

His game is exactly what the thunder need. Coming up with a trade that works for both sides isnt easy.

He is exactly what any team need nowadays. Low usage guy, excellent 3 point shooter, plus defender. All 30 teams could use him, and he is making only 2.5 mil.
Only way OKC acquire him is if he is part of a package for either Westbrook or George.

Re: Bullock
i actually thought that he would be an amazing ariza replacement for houston. obviously not quite the defender ariza is but is a deadly shooter and makes peanuts which helps because they don't have a lot of cap space.
that said, i'm very glad we have him. we desperately need his shooting and movement off-ball. a lineup i'm really looking forward to seeing is jackson-kennard-bullock-griffin-drummond. tons of opportunities to create between jackson and blake with drummond setting screens and being a lob target with two great shooter flanking the wings.

Dude is basically Anthony Morrow, nothing great, but a sharpshooter that can get you bench points occasionally. Though, I like having him around too.
I really doubt he's going to get overpaid. There's going to be a lot of FAs coming up.

No they won't "learn" and I put that in quotation marks because it's not about a lesson. FA is simply that competitive and teams will outright overpay any player they really want which will 100% happen. Us? We'd pay BIG money to any FA to come here which is why I don't understand people and their love for cap space. Nobody comes to Detroit in FA. Gotta trade for them.

Gotta have assets to trade, not terrible FA contracts. We’re light on assets, heavy on garbage contracts

Yeah cuz we just turned in assets for a FA basically. Another year and we've got good expiring contracts to trade. Also I don't believe we're done dealing. I think we're gonna get assets when players play like Jackson becomes an asset if he shows he can be healthy for half a season until he gets traded. We also have our FRP for next season. If we get a good offer for another star player, I'd give it up again.

Re: Bullock
If he can continue his production of 15 ppg on 45%+ FG 40%+ 3P as a starter, I could see him getting a contract similar to Avery Bradley's at 12 per year.

Those stats seem optimistic. I'd be ecstatic though!
So how does this work? Hoebmuch can we afford to give him nectar summer? Just MLE?

Yeah right. If you ignore the fact that he is a plus defender and Morrow was a laughable defender.

Nope. We actually have his bird rights If I'm not mistaken, so we can offer him whatever we want, unless we are hard capped.

Lmao "give him nectar". Stupid auto correct hahaha.
Thanks for the reply. I hope youre right. For some reason I thought we didn't have bird rights.

I thought so too, since we signed him to a 2 years contract, but we had him under contract before, I may be wrong, but if we have him under contract for 3+ years we have his full bird rights.
