And that lotto pick could be a much better player than Rozier. It could also be used on a better player in a trade. It also could be unnecessary to give up such an asset for an expiring non-star who many think can be had in restricted free agency.
Is it a given Rozier will look good on defense on this team away from the brad stevens system? Is it a given he won't regress this season? Is it a given we would even re-sign him if he plays poorly and/or gets a ridiculous offer sheet?
I would not burn a lotto pick on an inefficient scorer who could be had in free agency. If any team was willing to give up a lotto pick for him based on what he showed last season the Celts would have already traded him. Let me see what he looks like for a few months this season and we can reassess his value then.
