Better numbers and has a much bigger responsibility on offense. Horford is really good on defense but a lot of why Horford is good is making smart basketball plays, not really talent. Once Ben Simmons gets more experience and learns the game along with how talented he is he'll be one of the best in the league.
Well sure, once Ben becomes a better player he will be a better player. But there's no evidence that has happened yet and I thought this poll was about the present.
I'm just thinking... after that playoff series I wrote a comment about how the young C's had outplayed the young Sixers, and a bunch of Sixers fans told me that wasn't true and the only reason the C's won was because the best player in the series was Al Horford. Was even told without Horford the Sixers would have won the series in 5 games.
So now I'm sitting here like, uhh, Embiid was chosen in the poll at #11, and Ben is about to be chosen at #22. Meanwhile the guy who just curb stomped their entire team on both ends of the floor and was the 2nd best player in the entire East Playoffs after Lebron is over here not being picked. There is no planet on which Ben Simmons is currently a better basketball player than Horford.

Horford had a few good games, also had several games where he didn't do much.
At this point in his career Horford isn't the kind of guy that can be counted on to be an elite player every night. And luckily he's on a team where he doesn't have to be. He's not a top 25 player though.

I think that once you get outside of the top 20, you're looking at players who have notable flaws in their games, e.g., young guys with holes in their games you're thinking will improve vs. old guys on the downswing, etc.

smh
And Steph Curry made all nba 3rd team. Think about that for a second. DD had arguably his best regular season (I think there's a case he was better in 2016-2017) but his peak should have been 3rd team. Unless you think he deserved a spot over Westbrook, Harden or Dame this year.

Harden, Dipo, Curry, CP3, Westbrook, Jimmy Buckets, Dame, Lowry, Kemba, and PG13 were all much more deserving for the first 5 all-NBA teams even just looking at regular season.

I'm not saying I think DD should have been third team. I'm just saying when you look at only the roster of players who made an all-NBA team and no one else, DD doesn't have a case for 3rd team.
