F the wild card spot, i want the division. I dont want to play which basically amounts to a "play in" game to the real playoffs.

This is so cliche but it really feels like the Cubs are just trying to survive while we're the much more focused team right now. I think we can take the division.

I mentioned in the first month or two of the season that the only guy I've enjoyed watching take regular AB's more than Christian Yelich was prime Ryan Braun. And that was well before this current cheat code version of Yelich existed. Ask me today and its a coin flip. What a season. And again, what an absolute home run by David Stearns.

I couldn’t agree more. Prime Braun swing was so good amd smooth. I have to say, though, this version of Yelich is sweeter to me. It’s just so damn smoooooth.

BA mentioned that a NYT writer was traveling with the Brewers. Here's his article.

Same. those playoff teams, Braun was so dialed in. Every damn ball braun hit was squared up and on a rope. What makes Yelich so impressive to me is he is hitting 315 or something vs lefties which is ridiculous.

Also - have some of the approaches at the plate changed especially for the bottom of the lineup? I've seen quite a few bases loaded walks.. It looks like they are walking a lot more which then leads to AB's with guys on for Cain/Yelich and they have been capitalizing.

Yelich has like bonds like stats since the post half. Its just insane a 1.25 OPS? Hitting .359. When do you ever see that even for a half of a season?

It's so ridiculously awesome that we have him for 4 more seasons. I kind of take these with a grain of salt but fangraphs 'value" chart puts this season at $54.4M... which is more than he is schedule to make his entire 5 years in Milwaukee.

Cain's is "valued" at $44.9. I admittedly didn't love that signing at the time but I'm happy to look wrong as of now. I did love the Yelich trade from the get go so at least was 50% right this winter lol.

Enjoy reading some old takes.

I remember I was out and about on the Cain/Yelich night which was probably good because I basically said, "I am in the middle" on the Yelich deal and that was about it and might have said stuff a bit more incriminating. That said, I think I was a Cain signing guy all along.

Picking up Uecker and Young is an epic welcome to the team.

The part of the Cain signing that looks really smart right now is with the launch angle craze and the fact the Brewers like to challenge hitters with high fastballs having the best damn defensive center fielder in the game was a very good idea.

I was leery of the Cain deal because I generally don't like paying guys in their 30's and that deal could still sting a little in the last couple of years but if they continue to get this kind of play from him for even two more years it will look like a good overall signing. Cain is also a guy that you just don't appreciate as much until you watch him play every day.

At least I ended my bitching with "We'll see Stearns has rarely been wrong so far, hopefully Yelich hits .300 with 30 HR and 100 RBI and 25 SB in our band box."

That Player's Tribune piece is nice because you know it's not some Jabari Parker level posturing. CY is going to be here a while and he seems cool with it.

Yelich has firmly supplanted himself with Aaron Rodgers and Giannis to form the holy trinity of beloved/likable Wisconsin MVP athletes.
