GTFO with that low key racism. Niko was a beast last year. 18.7 PER, 57.7% TS, averaged a block and a steal per game, too. Marcus has literally zero argument over him.

The 100 top players are basically guys capable of being top 3 guys on a roster. Morris isn't.
I'm def not a fan of either Morris twin but people here are talking like Miotic is some great player. He's a poor defender and has been up and down efficiency wise with his shooting. I wouldn't have put either in the top 100. Morris can at least be an average defender while I don't see much of a difference offensively.
Mirotic is actually a wonderful defender. Consistently asked to bang with bigger 5s and more than holds his own. Also a great rebounder

I wouldn't take him ahead of Mirotic, but there are definitely some players he deserved to be ahead of.
I'd take Morris ahead of all the below players from the list
Fournier at 99
Winslow at 96
Fultz at 93
Pope at 92
Brogdon at 90
Roberson at 78
VanVleet at 74
Ball at 62
And if it's the playoffs I'm taking him ahead of Collison too
Why is Doncic at 63 without a single regular season game under his belt
Covington at 49 is a joke
Eric Gordon, Aaron Gordon and Gordon Hayward at 42, 41 and 40 feels like the writer just started going with names that popped into his head one after another.
Porter Jr at 38 is a joke
Beal ahead of Jaylen Brown? No thanks
Lowry ahead of Mitchell and Gobert? No thanks

Contract year and he's ass wounded.

No he’s not. Basketball boils down to players impacting the game in whatever they can to ensure that their team scores more per possession than it gives up to the other team. Mirotic and Aminu are strongly positive players because they play defense and in Mirotic’s case, good offense, too. Morris provides nothing and is a NEGATIVE player.
Player evaluations of other players are almost always the worst. Many of them seem stuck in the playground mentality of is theoretically better and it’s not based on objective measurements unless it’s obvious (LeBron, Curry, etc.)

Morris was one of the worst players in the entire league last year.

Re: Marcus Morris Questions Al-Farouq Aminu’s and Nikola Mirotic's ESPN Top 100 Rank
I would be happy if the Pelicans traded Mirotic for some of those dudes like Robert Covington or Robes. I'd be sad if they traded him for Marcus Morris. Roberson if he comes back healthy is the best perimeter defender the NBA. How is that not worthy of Top 100?RakimAbdulJabar wrote:I wouldn't take him ahead of Mirotic, but there are definitely some players he deserved to be ahead of.

He just sounds whiny and entitled. You don't earn respect by complaining about some ESPN article that didn't have your name in it.

Come on, you're going to randomly throw in the race card? Looks like he chose two guys at his position that he thinks he is better than. I have a feeling he is going based on his memory and experience playing against them. and not looking up PER, TS, etc

Is he? Based on what?
Last year...https://bit.ly/2ChiwPa
Pretty clear that Mirotic is better than Morris at.... everything. I do think Marcus Morris is circumstantially a better defender in one-on-one matches. But Morris has been a bad defender his whole career until last year in Boston. Mirotic balled out last year. He played at an all-star level in Chicago and then was a huge part of New Orlean's post-Cousins surge.
Aminu. Sure I can see why Morris things that. He's a better iso scorer than Aminu by far. But Aminu is a much more valuable defender than Morris or Mirotic. He protects the rim a little bit, switches handily across 4 positions and rebounds the ball pretty decently.
Morris to me was always broke man's Melo. He's got some iso shimmy in his game, a pull up, and a really solid turn around, but he's blah in every other area of the game. He think verrrrry highly of himself because he's a good 1 on 1 player.
For me, Mirotic is on a higher level than these guys. Aminu and Morris, i'd take based on need, but I'd probably want Aminu in most instances unless I was desperate for some iso offense off the bench. He did defend Lebron pretty well for 2 games last year though.
He's not better than Mirotic, but he's still got a point. If Mirotic is 50th and Aminu 100th then there should be space in between for Morris to get some love. He's only marginally worse than Nikola and I'd say a good bit better than Aminu.
He’s not marginally worse than Mirotic—he’s categorically worse. Morris is worse defensively overall and worse offensively.
He’s not better than Aminu. If you want to say overall skills well then maybe, but as far as helping a team win, no. Morris’ better overall skills (debateable) do not translate to helping a team win. Aminu can guard 2-4 of of every team and often the 5 in small ball and 1s for stretches. His elite defense is easy to plug into lineups.
Morris does not do ANYTHING at an elite level. He’s a negative defender and a negative offensive player.

Always gotta be some dude who sees an unathletic player and immediately label him as a poor defender. Mirotic is a solid defender & MILES ahead of Marcus Morris in that regard.
