Charles Barkely was a legit 6'4 playing power forward and he doesn't have a huge wingspan, it was all bully ball. I think Zion athleticism would be ok at the 4. RHJ is like 6'7 so what's the difference? Draymond Green is like 6'7 6'8 , height doesn't matter. Zion looks like he will be one of the strongest dudes in the NBA. As long as he can shoot the 3 and rebound and slide his feet quick enough, he will be ok at the 4.
Charles Barkley was 6'6 in shoes, the same height as Michael Jordan and he had long arms and ridiculous lower body strength.
I think Zion can play either forward spot tbh. His strength, frame and athleticism is ridiculous. Decent handles and good form on his outside shot. He has no business even playing NCAA ball.
When it comes to PF, I never understood the gripes about height. Like you said, Chuck was "undersized" and he was still giving dudes like Karl Malone, who was a 6'9 TANK, the business. Larry Johnson was 6'6 250 and was a load to handle prior to his back injury. Height has nothing to do with any of this. Length (wingspan) and strength are more of a factor than anything else. RHJ and Draymond are the same height the only difference is that Draymond has a bigger frame than RHJ.
Let's get some details about Zion's wingspan, because that he is not getting a shot off against Giannis, Tatum, Porzingis, Saric, Markkanen, Jarren Jackson Jr., and he's gonna struggle to bully Griffin, Gordon, Patterson, Johnson, Randle, Favors, Morris. 8 of those power forwards play in the Eastern Conference, and most of them are under 22 yrs old.
There's a reason you're comparing Zion to Larry Johnson and Charles Barkley, and that's because his skillset isn't suitable for today's NBA. Remember former Net Thomas Robinson? Their scouting reports are identical, but Zion is 2 inches shorter.
Why can't he get his shot off against those guys? I dont get what your saying. Harden is 6'5 and he can get his shot off against those guys, Kemba is not even 6 feet and he can do the same, why wouldn't Zion be able to? if that's the case than no guard or anybody under 6'6 will be able to get their shots off against the big men, so why don't we have big men guard the guards?
Zion is super fast and he can get around those guys, his handles are not the best but it's not bad, something he has to work on but it's there. He's not one of those slow big men type like back in the day, the dude is a bull that runs fast and jumps out the gym. Kind of like a stronger LeBron. His athleticism is 2nd to none and he's a legit 280 pound tank.
I can't believe you're comparing him to T Rob, Robinson was just a rebounder. He does not have the same skills as Zion. Zion can shoot the 3, he just has to work on it a little like every college player has to work on their game to get better. Blake Griffin won't be able to bully him like he does with RHJ, or Randle . Bro Patterson is a bench player, Morris too, you're comparing him to weak players. If Zion can slide his feet side to side quick enough, then none of those guys will be able to get by him and they're definitely not backing him down in the post. Heck I don't even see centers backing him down. He will take up a lot of space.
