The NBA seems to love Giannis, he gets so many super star calls, and gets away with so much travelling. it's frustrating to watch from the other side. Even when the defender is straight up and Giannis rams into him, they call a defensive foul. Shaq got a lot of the same treatment.
What a weird time (game and season) to bring this up. Giannis shot 2 FTs last night! He's drawing FTs on nearly 10% fewer of his possessions compared to the last 2 years. You're right that Giannis does get the Shaq treatment, ie guys can hack and body him without fear of fouling because they're dominant forces.
Somehow the refs missed this obvious foul by Collins on Giannis dunk attempt in the 4th quarterThe NBA gives WAY more preferential treatment to guards and perimeter players. Hell that's the whole point of the rule changes that were implemented.
I think you need to re-examine the traveling rules. Dribble count doesn't start until you have possession. Take this dunk, I'm sure you think it's a travel on first glance but watch again and it's clear he picks up the ball with his left foot and dunks off his left, so two steps. Just because his steps are slow and elongated and give him a huge advantage doesn't mean it's illegal. And he's been called for a bunch of travels this year any way, which is part of why his TOs are so high (mostly from not starting his dribble early enough).
