Must be the OKC arena that is his kryptonite, he even shot worse at home (40/33) than on the road (41/38) last year, that must be it

His point was that he thinks Melo is so great he should keep shooting even if he is 0 of 25. If you are still confident after going 0 of 25 then there's something wrong with you. You are deluded. Like those singers who get told by their mum that they are good singers then go on one of those talent shows only for the world to make fun of them.
No that wasn't his point. He said Melo has the confidence to keep shooting after going 0 for 8, but the average player would stop shooting all together. Melo is a former all-star, so his confidence is based on past success.

Yes it was his point. He said Melo is so great he should keep shooting even if he was 0 of 25. He's like a parent who thinks his son is better than he really is.
Melo even at 0 of 8 knows he's not great anymore. He said as much in a pre game interview with Ros Gold Onwude that during his season with OKC last year he had a lot more time to himself to realise he isn't the player that he used to be and that he's learned to accept it.

Webber was talking about Melo's confidence in comparison to a player who never had his type of success. Webber never said Melo was still a good player. Webber was basically saying Melo is the type of player to go 0 for 25 after going 0 for 8 because he "was" so good. Was is past tense.

Webber described him as "so great". He wasn't talking in the past tense.

Then he started talking about his confidence in comparison to other players. His whole point was about Melo having the confidence to keep shooting after going 0 for 8.
