Even less often there’s a player that has those things, plus a drive to impose himself. My biggest knock on James is that the drive just wasn’t quite at the highest level. Physically dominant. But there’s been a few times where he wasn’t the most desperate guy on the floor.
I believe this is the generational talent. I think this is the one that changes the way we watch the game. Changes the way children play. Right off the jump he’s too much to handle in the nba. He’s going to out run, out jump, and over power a majority of the players in the league right now. And for the few that can keep up with him, I think this is the player that takes it as a personal challenge. And says “oh yeah, well top this”.
I never believed we’d be in a position to draft him. We’re not bad enough. And we’re not that lucky. I think we’ll be fairly close but we’re going to have to come out of pocket. The question is should we and how much is too much?
If it’s me I’m not screwing around. At all. I’m going to get this kid. Even if it means erasing what we’ve collected up to this point. Or even setting us back a couple of years. I don’t care. Either get this dude, or spend another 10 years fantasizing of getting this type of player. I’m personally fed up with pretending. Pretending that the players we have are better than they are. Pretending that the top player is clamoring to sign with us in free agency. I’m just going to make this happen and live with the results.

of course there's lebron, but he's bigger, possibly more athletic, less skilled.
i've heard shawn kemp, but he's bigger (than prime kemp) and more skilled.
barkey, but zion is bigger, more athletic, and a better passer and defender.
i don't have a great comparison for what i'm seeking in zion.
we're currently in an era of long freaks, a la AD, KP, giannis, embiid.
unless kane is talking about the league becoming zion's like... like a jordan era. i don't know about THAT. that's a lot to put on the kid in a league with clear HOF talent in the prime of its own era.

Trading KP for Zion basically ensures that you guys will just keep repeating what you guys have been doing. Say you guys land the 3rd pick, I would make everything available except for KP to trade up to get the #1 spot.
Zion is just different. Look what he has done for college basketball. I mean when Duke has a game against a ranked team, you go to the page that lists all the team boards and it is like half of the team boards last posts is a draft or college basketball thread. He is must see TV.
You add that in the NY market and you add KP as well. I think the Knicks automatically become much more attractive for free agents. You got two young studs that both appear to have games that are friendly for other stars. You also have the biggest market in the world rejuvenated to levels we havent seen in a long time. Ya I think there is a good chance you guys could start landing legit talent.
You would have your number 1 and 2 guy already ...that is the legit talent right there , the rest is icing that will kill to be part of the resurgence at MSG. Just imagine us thrashing the teams where the front running bandwagon FA's turned their noses up at us. Imagine when ESPN will be forced to put respect back on the Knicks name. I would just love that.
Yup. KP and Zion in MSG would basically become must watch TV every game. And again say you guys land him, I bet there will be some free agents this summer that will go, okay let me think again about the Knicks. Cause again those are star friendly players. Neither are these ball dominant players. The buzz around the Knicks would be back, that is a powerful tool in free agency.
So ya if you guys get anywhere near that 1st round pick, I would call the team sitting at #1 and say, take whoever you want and how many picks you want.

I think what sets him apart is his drive. He’s mean. Nasty. Some guys get punched in the face and the switch goes off. That’s it. They don’t want to engage any further. Some guys get punched in the face and the switch goes on. And they become an animal. And keep coming.
In boxing there’s some guys that might not have the whole package. But when they get tagged suddenly they become dangerous.
I see glimpses of a warrior. Now we add the physical aspect to that. Big. Strong. Explosive. But in this case those physical aspects are levels above the norm. It’s going to be difficult to stop him on a normal day just due to that. Now you take those things, and piss him off. And you’re dealing with a serious problem.
It’s the drive that impresses me most. There’s just not a lot of highly competitive guys in the league today. If I had to pick one it would be Greek freak. I can’t stand that guy. He doesn’t want to play and high five. He wants to crush. You challenge him and something bad is going to happen. I think Zion is potentially that type of competitor.

The generational talent that we should have traded up for (and someone did) was Luka Doncic last year. Y’all overhyping this guy. Put it in a sig, you’ll see in a couple years.
