Without Barnes and Matthews requiring a certain number of minutes/touches to keep them happy or to justify the amount they're being paid. With Luka we may see Harden-esque type of numbers. With Dennis as a number two option we may see improvement there too.
Just surround them with shooters and defenders. Signing Aminu and DFS back can work wonders as those two dont require specific plays ran for them unlike Barnes' required number of iso plays per game to justify that $26M price tag.
C- Jordan
PF- Doncic
SF- Aminu
SG- Finney Smith
PG- Smith Jr.
You need more than 2 scorers. If you play that lineup, the defense won't allow Doncic or DSJ to ever get a shot off. That is why someone like Harrison Barnes is VERY valuable as a 3rd or 4th option. Barnes has shown the ability to defer enough that as Doncic and [hopefully] DSJ prove themselves over the next 2-years, Harrison will become more and more of a role player.
The defense would literally just leave Aminu and DFS open all the time to shot. You can maybe have one of those players in your best-5 lineups, but not two.
I really don't know why everyone wants to give Barnes up. He's been very good this season, except with the tunnel vision when he drives. Again, hopefully that becomes less of a thing as we grow. Barnes is not your Carmelo Anthony style player and I do think he can adapt to being your 3rd/4th option.

I’d like to see Luka become a 30/10/10 superstar leading a perennial playoff powerhouse in Dallas. Whether he can improve that much more remains to be seen.
It's pretty easy to see him improve n his shot selection. And as he gets a 2nd creator around him (hopefully), he'll get more looks. I wonder how many of his baskets are unassisted? I doubt many.
30/10/10 is unrealistic. But it's easy to see him become a 24ppg-7rpg-6apg guy in his prime. And if he can take bigger steps, he can be a 27ppg-8rpg-8apg guy, top-5 player level player. Either way, Dallas has 1 of the 2 players you need to win a championship, I'm convinced. And that is hard to do.
