Excuse is his shots went in and out so he got unlucky, I propose if everyone made the shots they could have made they’d be much better. Frank is Andre Roberson ceiling, utility player but definitely an indefinisble lottery selection on a team devoid of talent.
I try to stay out of the debate now, but to sort of come in the 2nd half of your statement and agree, basically my take is:
He might improve, so it's worth finding out to the end of the rookie deal. If NOT, and Frank is mostly WYSIWYG, I like role players who'll play defense and execute the system - fits better when the really good players finally show up. He's still need a more reliable jumper for that scenario too, which I "think" will come, based on form etc.
Obviously there can be different kinds of role players for different occasions - nothing inherently superior about Frank over a guy like Trier - case could be made Trier is better, for instance. I think different. And it could be after 4 years they'll need to cycle him off the team, but again, might as well take the full 4 years when you draft a 19 year old. Same with Mitch. Same with Knox.
