As it stands, they'd a little shy of being able to match AD's trade number next offseason, but AD could waive the trade kicker and they can get there.
But... to have any chance to beat out Boston's offer, they really need that pick to come in high -- likely #1 for Zion. Only a 14% shot at that, and even that is debatable to beat out Tatum and picks.
Their AD offer would be 2019 pick, Knox, DSJ, Ntilikina, Mitchell, future picks.
Zion would be more valuable than any asset or collection of assets the Celts have.
Zion, and other players maybe. But Zion alone is not a better treat piece than Tatum, Brown, and four first round picks.
So Davis gets traded to the Lakers. Kyrie walks to New York this offseason, and if Davis doesn't go to LA, New York still be so cuz of that single trade asset. You're kind of catastrophizing a little bit. Do you realize this?
