what he's saying is the knicks are a destination because everybody thinks durant is coming. it's like i said yesterday, so many of these media guys are convinced.
I personally think Klutches co-sign via the AD rumors is a huge deal. I also am not convinced it means anything specifically with AD, but instead is a signal from the Lebron group that things have changed and the Knicks are a viable landing spot.
It's been a long journey since the last major Knicks FA cap space when they put forth just about the wrongest foot possible with the clueless/classless James Dolan, chucklehead D'Antoni, and a wheelchair-bound old white man in Donnie Walsh in the room to sell James on coming here and effectively working for them. Yes that's disrespecting any business/basketball acumen they have, but it's the optics.
Since then Lebron has become an outspoken activist for the empowerment of athletes on the whole, and also specifically for black athletes getting into positions of power - both officially by title and unofficially by using there star power more effectively to control their path. That's the kind of isht those holding positions of power with the Knicks since Lebron's time in the league have hated. Lebron has really funneled a ton of money and time in the pursuit of growing his own power as an individual, and encouraging other athletes to do the same.
Since then the Knicks have arrived at a point now where they have highly-credentialed black men in positions of power helming the day-to-day operations of the organization, and who are conscious of that modern player's mindset. Most importantly they have created the perception that they are relatable to it (the mindset). While it doesn't hurt, I don't necessarily think that a FO has to be black in order to curry this favor, but they just have to be RELATABLE. A huge problem for the Knicks historically has been the clumsiness/ignorance with which they try to sell themselves to the modern athlete.
Of course Dolan is still there and still a problem, but almost every team in the league outside of SAC and CHA is going to have similar issues with those optics. With Mills, Perry, and Fizdale the Knicks are positioned perhaps better than any other team in the league to be accepted as a place where legitimate star players can go to have power and create something together. I don't think it's any mistake that a guy as well connected and diligent as Perry ended up hiring a coach that is unquestionably the best coach in the league to try and draw star players attempting to form like Voltron.
Besides Perry doing major work as the GM to even make it attractive in the first place, I think this is exactly why the Knicks - with the worst record in the league - are on AD's list issued by the Lebron-influenced Klutch, and rumored for KD/Kyrie, and why the Celtics led by Danny Ainge, who has the perception of treating players like cold hard assets, are not.
This post you make is not only amazing but I wanted to make a thread kind of similar to this, moreso praising what Lebron is doing.
Lebron is never going to catch Jordan but he will surpass him as far as his likeability around the league.
Bron is taking over the league by having his best friend with his agency (black owned) signing top players, he’s communicating exclusively through Chris B Haynes (black reporter), he’s become outspoken on black issues, he plans to be a owner like Jordan but where Jordan was focused more on himself, Lebron is empowering others around him. He also took the bullets when he decided to join Miami Heat but doing so allowed players to make decisions for themselves as far as the teams they wanted to play on. Without Lebron doing that players would continue doing what they feel is right for the team vs what is right for themselves.
This may or may not ruffle feathers but as a black man we forgive but don’t forget. Back in the days it was unheard of a black coach, unheard of a black GM & then when they were awarded the opportunities they were the first to go based on not having friends in high places or family ties.
Lebron remembers all of that and is trying to change all of that. He’s trying to change the entire league and make it black. The trade James Jones made to help LeBron was filled with outrage because of people focusing on Lebron being Lebron but if you look deeper, it was the first sign of Bron showing you that the tides are changing with black agents/black gm’s having friends in high places.

Yeah
If only
We would be turning Kp into AD and cap space

You think Knicks get to keep their 2019 pick, Trier and Mitchell in that scenario?

exchange the Dallas picks for our 1st pick and I think thats more attractive than what the Lakers are offering.

Right! I'm thinking Wes and/or Jordan , Knox, our 2019 1st round pick, and whoever else they want to take.

Idk how credible this dude is tbh, but I wouldn't be "shocked" by this and to a certain extent I would even understand the thought process, but what's next in the 2nd year PG musical chairs game we would be playing? Talking to Philly about packaging DSJ for Markelle Fultz? Lol
Personally I would prefer to keep Frank just due to the fact that he would be a perfect player to have with guys like Kyrie and KD albeit no guarantee we get those guys
