Siakam + Anunoby = 60 points = What you get when a team has a decent GM.

And a good player development program. Those guys weren't that good as rookies.

Siakam has been an enormous surprise. Huge.

Onanoby had a terrific night against us, but actually he hasn't been good this season. Has a 51.5% TS%, doesn't rebound, average or below in pretty much everything else.

I didn't watch the game - just listened on the radio, but Glenn Consor had an interesting comment. He said Beal was guarding Siacam for most of the game. I'm thinking the only explanation for that is that the Wiz were planning on using Sato on Siacam and panicked when they found out Sato wasn't playing. Otherwise, why in the bleep would the Wiz use Beal on Siacam - he's way too short to cover him.

Brooks seems to enjoy ceding control over his team to his stars. This is MY THEORY OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT when Siakim abused whomever he towered over.

Dekker, DNP-CD, is a guy who I would play just for reckless enthusiasm and energy. Mahinmi could foul and occasionally make a major defensive impact. Ian speaks French, just like I assume Pascal Siakim does.

Brooks was guaranteed $35M over 5 years by the same man who fired Eddie Jordan just 12 games into a season following a great playoff run. Eddie had injured Gilbert and not much of a good roster.

Brooks is not as good as the last coach. Wittman had a spine.

I'm tired of having this debate.... Scoring with efficiency and setting up for others as the number one option and focal point of the opposition's defense is much harder than being a hyper-efficient finisher as a 3rd option catch-and-shoot guy....

It's an extremely strong point, nate. In fact, it's 100% true with no room for doubt. It would be foolish to argue against it.

Hence, I'm happy to cede to you in "this debate."

What I would question -- or, better, what would be worth questioning, or lets instead say investigating -- are the terms of the "debate." After all, your claim wasn't that Beal was better at the skill(s) you describe above but just that he is better. Viz:

Porter at his best isn't as good as what Beal has done this year. Beal has taken it to a new level and is now making his way into the top 20 players in the league...

If one were to discuss that larger claim objectively, both in re: Otto & also the "top 20 players" question, one would have to determine the different effects on wins/losses of radically different aspects of the game. That is assuming that the terms good, better, & best are to be thought of along that scale.

I'd be perfectly willing to do that, but... the truth is that maybe it's something to do in the off-season. Or, it might not be of general enough interest to discuss here at all. I'm sure there are forums where people do discuss just this question.

I think Anunoby will be fine. He's struggled this season but he missed lots of training camp and preseason as well as several games this season due to the death and funeral proceedings of his father. He also seems to struggle a bit more at PF for now, and he plays there more with Kawhi on the team. It wasn't really a surprise to see him step up at SF with Kawhi out for the game, though he was better than normal for him. And his defense is still high end. He's nowhere close to Siakam's level right now and I think is a different kind of player anyway but I think he's going to be just fine in the end.

The GMs job...amass talented players that fit in a cohesive system at the best price possible and a hire coach that can teach the young players the ( or a) system as well as how to be professional young basketball players. The coach also has to be able to get the can get the best out of the vets. Am i wrong? If not did Erine do this? If not- turn off the TVs until we get a new gm. We cant reward the wiz for this garbage.

Didn't know anything about that, & I'm sorry to hear it. Anyone who's lost a parent -- especially as relatively young as I assume his dad must have been -- knows that it is a life-changing event.
