Grant as the Basketball ops guy- he seems like he could really motivate a team well and Nash as GM managing who to bring in to fill out a roster and manage personalities on a team. Bring in KG to lead player development with Ayton/ Booker/ Bridges. The best coach for that scenario might be SVG (good history getting great production from bigs), Thibs (defense) or M. Jackson (leadership). We need experience and toughness with a defensive mindset wrapped in a package the players will respect. The only trick is to make all of that happen might cost $30+ million/ year.
Ironically we are actually built pretty well for the triangle offense right now. That said we need an offense that starts inside-out rather than outside-in. Igor is trying with the first quarter activity, and it's paying some dividends in keeping Ayton involved, but we are far from being complete there. Always go through the area where your team is most dominant first. Ayton is that- even with his flaws.
I'm good with your ideas for the front office. But no offense but I don't think I could list 3 guys I would be less interested in as coach (well Jason Kidd comes to mind but these guys are in my top 5). SVG was a good coach but he's been out of the game so damn long I just don't really see that working out. Thibs, just no, he has never liked to coach young players his system is outdated and he runs guys into the ground. And personally I think Mark Jackson is a bad coach and I would tend to think the league agrees with me since he hasn't got a job since GS.
If they do move on from Igor Walton is my favorite realistic target. I really like that he has experience working with a young team and he had them playing good D last year.
I wouldn't mind Walton, but not sure he'd come. I just hope they stop with the nonsense of changing every damn year. And yeah, those other names mentioned...man, that would really be awful. I'd look at Bret Brielmaeir though.
With Walton I guess it would depend on his options. With so many coaching changes last summer I actually think this will be a relatively quite summer for coach firings. The Lakers job probably opens up. I guess Minnesota might be looking but I could see them just stay with Flips son. Portland is a possibility but that puts another good coach on the markets in Stotts who I'd be fine with.
Personally unless behind the scenes they feel like Igor has just lost this team I would give him another year.
