I know Santana and Hamels have devestating changeups, but they're both lefties. Shields had, IMHO, far and away the best righty changeup in the the AL before Bucholz came along, so I'm trying to get a feel on how good that pitch really is. I've never seen him pitch, but I've heard his change is really good.

It's just as good as Shields. The difference is, Buchholz has a better curveball than Shields.

I wasn't comparing pitchers, just pitches. Bucholz is the better talent, but Shields' changeup is all world, so I was trying to get an opinion on how good Clay's was.

The changeup is my favorite pitch in baseball, so I appreciate pitchers who have a good one.

Was Tim Donaghy the home plate ump last night? That looked like Jim Donaghy at 1st base in the 9th, too.

Weren't you the one who claimed "it all evens out" when the cheap hits were going the Angels way on Friday?

And besides, with Mr. Bloop, Jorge Posada, on your team...you will have your fair share of cheap hits every year. Him and the guy who hit the cheapest HR in MLB history (Abreu) yesterday to give the Yankees the lead.

Dustin Pedroia is Mr. Bloop, Mr. Cheap Hit, Mr. Flare and Mr. Dunker. That guy gets so many cheap hits.

That Abreu HR is a Pesky Pole HR, which happens a good amount at Fenway.

Also, it certaintly didn't even out yesterday.

Can you find me a site that shows the stats of that overrated reliever, Hideki Okajima? Thanks in advance, chief.

Speaking of overrated......
Derek Jeter: .323 AVG, .391 OBP, .441 SLG, .832 OPS, $20M per year.
Dustin Pedroia: .324 AVG, .395 OBP, .449 SLG, .844 OPS, 500K per year.

Dustin Pedroia > Derek Jeter. That settles it, folks.

Okajima has been really lucky this year. Look at that hit rate, and then look at that strikeout rate. I expect a correction soon.

Then I guess Matsui is a better hitter than Manny since he does have a higher OPS more homeruns and more Rbi's....

Oh and lugo 9 mil - .653 OBS - .241 avg - 16 errors....

Who said Lugo was good?
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."

Dustin Pedroia does get a lot of bloop hits. This is because he doesn't strikeout and if you get the bat on the ball, you are going to get a lot of cheap hits. Just ask Ichiro and Derek Jeter.

After the All-Star break I'd say he's very good. Hitting .336 slugging .464 and a OPS of .833. If you take away just a horrible June, he would actually be having a good season.

I meant in the field...oops.

Lugo batted something crazy like .393 during the month of July.
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."
