Only 9 mil guaranteed

Yeah I know, I still don't get it, the dude is not very good. Can't complain too much though, it was still a very good day.

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but have our 3 major professional sports franchises ever had better guys in charge at the same time then right now??

I am very happy with these moves. I am not sure if they are going to work out but I am feeling confident in our FO. These were all shrewd moves that helps a ton with draft flexibility and aligns with Rodgers’s timeline.

Dee Ford getting paid 87m by the 9ers makes me insanely happy we did what we did today. Ill take P and Z Smith all day over 1 Dee Ford.

Way too early to say about Gute. Horst has made some solid moves this year, for sure, but this coming offseason will be telling. Stearns is the only one I feel comfortable saying is a good GM.

Players that i want that are realistic,
Shaq Barrett OLB, think he has upside)
Mark Ingram
Tevin Coleman (Lafleur connection)
Denzel Perryman
Jason McCourty (veteran in secondary)
Tyrell Williams
Golden Tate

From what i read on twitter with how Ball handled these contracts we still have room for 1 big signing or 2 medium sized contracts and thats without releasing Bulaga, Tramon, or Graham if we so choose...Personally i would only keep Graham for one more year out of those 3

I haven't seen any agreement reported for Ingram.

Perryman resigned with the Chargers though.

Can I ask why you would keep Graham of those 3?

Seems pretty clear to me of those 3 he's the worst football player of the bunch

What I find interesting is that this board is completely jacked up over these signings. Yet in years past when either of us advocated spending some FA coin to help either Favre or Rodgers, there was a cascade of posts saying “NFL free agency is a fool’s game and Ted understands that”.

I’m glad they are spending some money here. Unfortunately feel though like it may be too late and A-Rod’s window is closed. We’ll see.

Not for nothing but theres been a few of us that haven't been completely gun ho about all these signings. (honestly at least one of the Smith's is destined to be the most hated player on this board if a guy like Sweat ends up in GB)

Also it was mostly "the big fish FAs are fools gold" or "we need to save our cap to resign guys" (an issue we dont really have right now outside of Clark) or "If we pick up guys it should be the 2nd or 3rd tier guys cause they stand the best chance of living up to the contract".

Not "Dont ever under any circumstances sign a guy"

No, there was a lot of dismissive talk, even about bringing in older veterans. Maybe not you, but a large majority of this board drank the TT Kool aid for about five years there where the drafts sucked and you could see the core of the team rotting away.

I'm sure there was alot ot dismissive talk. Theres also alot of talk every year from people who have never seen a 1st day FA they didnt want to sign at all cost.

Most people fell somewhere in the middle though imo

One huge difference is in the good TT days signing free agents would have meant not being able to keep internal guys either then or the following season. Most of their cash was spent on extensions. But since they completely **** a few draft classes now they have to use the money on outside players. Good example is the pack signed 3 guys from the 2015 class today but have 0 of the guys they drafted that year left on the roster. Had they made good picks they would have had to spend to keep them.

Draft, develop, and resign is a sound strategy in general. But you need to draft well which they didn't do. It's also bad to become to ridged to any strategy and not use all avenues to improve, a few more FAs or trades mixed in would have helped. I think they also underestimated how much the cap was going to explode the past few years which makes FA and possible cap hell less likely and damning.
