No thanks. No way in Hell would I take Bridges over Morant or Barrett.
Good point. And while I might consider it for Morant (depending how he does in tourney and combine), Batum's contract has too high of an opportunity cost for me to want.
That to. They should compensate us with a 1st for that terrible contract. We already have a better SF in Porter
I agree Charlotte needs to add more value, but you get (11) for taking on Batum and Bridges for (4).
I guess we have a difference in opinion on the prospects. Personally I see marginal(if any) differences in the stock trading down from Barrrett/Morant to Little/Hunter or Garland/NAW/White. Bridges IMO is better than all of them.
Regarding cap space, I don't mind the opportunity cost because the front office lost that opportunity to sign anyone with the negative press surrounding them. Wade and Parker are their last two big signings, and they've lost even more credibility with players in the aftermath of both. I'd expect it to take a season or two of the Bulls playing inspired basketball before any high-impact players get warmed up to the idea of coming to Chicago.
There's also just too much competition with cap space this off-season. I have a hard time believing Gar can even actually sign a player like Beverly. The FA class next summer is extremely uninspiring so they'd be saving cap for what? A chance to get a meeting with Anthony Davis just to get rejected?
2021 is the off-season Giannis and Oladipo are UFA and chances are Boston and Philly keep them from the ECF until then. Having the Bird rights to both Lauri and Otto that summer makes us an extremely attractive landing spot for them to buddy up. Batum's contract does not interfere with that off-season's cap.
