New Orleans -- FansidedCould the Hawks be a dark horse Anthony Davis trade suitor for Pelicans?
A team that is not often mentioned but could make sense in an Anthony Davis trade is the Atlanta Hawks. What would it take for the New Orleans Pelicans to entertain an offer from them?
a team that is not yet on anyone’s radar that could feasibly jump into the mix is the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks are a young team and have struggled once again this season because of it. They’re in twelfth place in the Eastern Conference and currently hold the most likely odds to select fifth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, with some luck, the Hawks could easily put together a trade package worthy of tempting the Pelicans into pulling the trigger on a deal. If the Atlanta Hawks end up securing the top pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, look for them to shoot to the top of the list for potential Anthony Davis trade partners.
The Hawks have two very exciting young assets in possible Rookie of the Year Trae Young and John Collins that they absolutely would not want to move in a trade. Instead, they’d part with their #1 pick in order to put together an incredibly dynamic and exciting roster featuring AD, Young, and Collins, which surely could make some serious noise in the Eastern Conference next season. Atlanta is a big market that might actually have a pretty good chance of re-signing Anthony Davis if 2019-2020 goes well for the organization.Spoiler:
However, the main attraction in this trade package is clearly Zion Williamson, who is the guaranteed top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Unless you live under a rock that’s under a bigger rock that’s under a bigger rock, you know that Zion is widely touted as the next big thing to come into the league. If the Pelicans can turn this Anthony Davis fiasco in to the deal that landed them Zion Williamson, it could benefit the franchise for the next decade.

Trades to Rescue NBA Superstars Who Missed the Playoffs
Karl-Anthony Towns Soars South
Minnesota Timberwolves Get: John Collins, Kevin Huerter, Taurean Prince, 2019 first-round pick, 2019 first-round pick (via Dallas Mavericks)
Atlanta Hawks Get: Karl-Anthony Towns
More than likely, this only happens if Towns makes a trade request. In the wake of a 2018-19 season that saw him average 24.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists on 40 percent shooting from deep, he's just too good to move unless no other options exist.
But hey, if Anthony Davis can request a trade shortly after making the playoffs, so could Towns.
And anyway, stop fighting this hypothetical! Don't you want to see KAT and Trae Young confound opposing defenses for the next several years? Towns is the most dynamic offensive big man in the league, and he'd pair with Young in an unguardable pick-and-pop combination. Just as importantly, the attention Towns would draw in isolation and on the block would free Young to sprint around off the ball. Defenses would have to pay full attention to both, which would basically be impossible.
Obviously, the Hawks have to surrender a mint to get their superstar. And it's tough to imagine Atlanta short-circuiting its deliberate rebuild this early; it'd feel like skipping several important steps.
But...who cares?
We (and the Hawks) get KAT and Young together for at least a half-decade. They'd be a top-five offense with a couple of shooters on the wing, and maybe the pairing would open the floodgates for free agents. Who wouldn't want to play with these guys?
Meanwhile, Towns escapes the cold, a franchise with a long history of losing and Andrew Wiggins. It's hard to top that.

That's gross. This trade not only takes the contents of the vault but also the vault.

Good luck to OKC getting talent to sign with them if they have any available cap space. Not all star talent like Paul George is willing to do what he did. OKC will stay loyal to him but what a tax to pay if they get kicked out of the first round.jayu70 wrote:If OKC flames out in the playoffs and Paul George is made available:
Should the Hawks be interested.
what is the Hawks offer?
Bazemore, Prince + Dallas 1st?
PG is on the books for 2 more years after this year at $33 and $35 mil/per. He'll be 28 in May.

I'd ask for Bazemore, Plumlee, #5, #9, 2020 Hawks #1 (top 5 protection).

Now this is actually a trade I would do for KAT. 100% but not for **** Bradley Beal. Honestly, we aren't interested in unless it's a discount deal. Something like CLE pick, top 5 protected pick 2020 and Huerter and even then, I'll still say no but that's the value I see. Two 1sts, and a young stud for Beal is reasonable. Anything else is crazy. Not trading a lottery pick for Beal. Maybe you should offer this to the Pelicans. They would do it.
I dont see them turning down trading a lottery pick, a 2020 pick and even taken on Ian M. For Beal.
