I mean, that's the type of player that gets elevated in a league that allows physical defense and puts less emphasis on shooting threes.
Which is why I've been saying, you need to be careful what you wish for. This modern direction has GREATLY improved the entertainment and enjoyment of the product.
The path you're lobbying for leads to the league being run by the chucking, athletic freak players like Westbrook. And that's fun for nobody.

Shout out to Devin Booker. I knew you'd come around.

Who cares, not every player has to play defense. Have a coach that knows what he's doing devise up a decent scheme and have a couple dudes on cheap contracts that specialize in defending. That's how teams have always done it throughout history.

Great offensive execution is virtually defenseless anyway. Devin Booker embarasses Brad Stevens's elite defensive scheme with all his defensive players every time he plays them.

They both "matter" but they are not in any way proportionate. There's a heavy lean on the importance of the offensive side of the ball. There always has been.
Kobblehead wrote:Players give defensive effort in games that matter.
You're not going to convince players that the regular season matters. So rule changes aren't going to solve your problem with the defensive effort in the NBA. They're just going to make the product worse.
