JV is an awful help defender. Please share what you're smoking.
Ok i'll correct he's the far better rim protector, and he's as good as Marc as a help defender, did you watch tonight's game, Marc was either too slow or did not even bother because he looked gassed out there
Oh I see. So we're making sweeping statements based on 2 games now. In that case, Biyombo should have won DPOY for the 2 games he bullied the Cavs.
Also JV is a better rim protector but not by much. He's a better shotblocker than Marc for sure. But that's not all what rim protecting is. Otherwise Javale is a premier rim protector.
JV is a better rim protector by a lot actually. I wonder how you ever came to that conclusion.
Defensive impact stat which is closest defender at shots at the rim; Gasol let in 10% higher FG% at the rim comparing Raptors stats to JV and gave up 8% higher FG% at the rim comparing Grizzlies stats to JV.
Players shot -15.5% within 6 feet of the rim against JV than their average FG%, while -3% against Gasol when comparing Raptors stats and -9.4%/-3.4% comparing their respective time in Memphis.
The closer to the rim the more reliable the numbers and it isn't particularly close. JV is also the better interior rebounder to finish the possession. So, yeah...
