What? You asked what I meant by personality, and I answered, happy to share my thoughts and opinions on him, as well as share how I've had my own struggles. This is by no means a dick measuring contest and was quite literally the opposite, I'm sorry that you took it that way.truth18 wrote:Jaqua92 wrote:An extroverted personality, someone who thrones off attention, someone theatrical etc..Kyrie is an introspective thinker. For people like this, there's an entire internal world just as relevant as the external world. I'm one of them. One of the greatest challenges of people like this is to get these worlds to align. I've been lucky enough to spend some time studying Buddhism, to have years of counseling, and pursuit my masters in counseling/counseling psychology for eventual state licensure. This "alignment" can be challenging, but I have the skills, tools, and insight to grow with them.truth18 wrote:
What is a personality suited for stardom?
Do you want him to punch Tatum in the face and go get wasted gambling all night?
Should he pave a new driveway for himself and throw out his back shortening his career for years?
Even dudes like Magic have PR nightmares. And no actual personality.
On court is what matters in this league.
Idk about Kyrie, I doubt he would understand anyof it but this forum should read some Foucault.
A maladaptive way this alignment happens is actually a focus of Gestalt Therapy (which I've mentioned he would benefit from before), some people try to get the external world to change..try to manipulate it in order to meet their internal world in the moment, opposed to allowing them to exist simultaneously. Kyrie does this, and then rationalizes his failures by telling us he wants to grow, and tries to validate himself externally by talking about how he doesn't need validation..but he does, he's seaking it out. He's a sensitive dude who's a bit insecure, easily overwhelmed, and a bit paranoid..but he can present himself by rationalizing it instead being so codependent on others, like KD. But it's still not most healthy way to handle this kind of functionality.
My point is, someone like Kyrie by nature has a more difficult time in front of the bright lights when everything he does is so scrutinized. He's forced to learn on his own, and it's hard to focus on your mental health when you are a pro star athlete. I don't think Kyrie INTENDS to be phony. But he acts like someone who could some day have a mild psychotic break and just become delusional

On the bold:Spoiler:
You have never analyzed or talked to Kyrie as a patient in any professional sense. To suggest he could have a mild psychotic break is unprofessional at worst and inherently inaccurate at best. It's also offensive to guys like Delonte who suffered from real mental illness and are already seriously stigmatized my society.
I live in the real world where things are not boiled down to soundbites and clips we watch online. The real world where Jordan punches out Kerr and it helps the Bulls win it all again.
Save me your "Jeff Green is on Benzodiazepines" thread PT 2 ft. Buddha.
As far as Kyrie, I'm not making a legitimate professional case or assessment of the guy or diagnosing him lol it was just a passing observation based off predispositioned traits I have seen in people who are psychotic, and there's nothing unethetical about that. I'm not saying that will happen, probably won't. Just a fleeting observation.
I've worked in the mental health field for a while, and always have advocated for mental health..been around it. Sister is epileptic, been around alcoholism, mother has PTSD, father has a personality disorder, so believe me that advocacy is important to me and I appreciate you identifying with that and recognizing it. I apologize if my post bothered you. However do not appreciate you questioning my professionalism based off a comment. It's a misunderstanding, and I'm drawing a line there. I like you and enjoy your posts, so this particular conversation has run it's course.
