Doumbouya started in pro league here (second division, in Poitiers) at 16ish and his rookie season was promising (he had already a nice body against mostly adults and physical players). His second season with Poitiers was disappointing though.
Technically he is one of most talented forward we ever had, with better handles than Diaw (he can dribble with both hands and is protecting the ball pretty well here). He has a nice court vision, already decent shooting skill.
But as i already said here, he seems to chose his games and is really not consistent. Now he plays in Limoges in our 1st division, but while everyone expected him to be the best prospect, he had a worst season than Maledon (who will be eligible next year with K. Hayes who is probably the most gifted young prospect we had in a long time).
With the body and skillset he has, he should already be dominating. The only good thing being that he does not seem to shy away from responsabilities and he is not afraid of geting into the paint to get it done. One of the problem being that it's rather easy for him here, and we had some prospect who had an edge and thought it was enough and never put the work they needed to take the next step in their game. That's among the question marks i have with Doumbouya (as well as his capacity of playing oversea far from his family), but he is still very young.
Since we are short in quality forward in our NT, i hope he will hit his (huge) potential in the nba, but he could be another Moiso somehow (not talking about the ncaa run, but about the attitude/pouting/effort stuff).
I already said i did not think it was a good idea for Charlotte. I'd rather see Y. Pons orJ. Hoard drafted late in the second round instead. And considering the mess with Batum (i never undestood the hate towards Diaw, the dude is by far the best - though underachiever - nba player we ever had), it would be dumb to pick one.
