how is that lucky? Plus Curry is pretty good finishing around the basket as well.
There is no doubt Curry is an immense talent, however to me his reputation preceeds him on the court and allows him to mentally bend his opponents to his will. They know he can pull up at any moment (even if he is ice cold) so he always has his man on his hip. Then his deft handles and underrated first step allows him to get by and have an uncontested floater or layup due to the fact that if a next man steps up, he gets an easy assist whether its for the Green layup or for a Klay bomb.
Teams dont usually have the luxury to try and trap/get the ball out of his hands because as soon as you do, he kicks it to draymond who is smart enough to deal with the 3 on 2 situation.
However the Cavs still did this effectively mainly because the dubs release valves in Barnes, Iggy, etc stopped hitting shots as the series went on (2016). In addition to attacking Curry on offense every single team whether by switch, iso, or both.
IMO, our ideal matchups are -
Iggy - Lowry
Curry - Kawhi
Klay - Danny Green
Dray - Siakam
Looney - Gasol
