And there are these excuses floating out there about his play this past season, whether it be injuries like above or something else, which may or may not be completely meritless, but they're not something I'm banking on if I'm a smart GM. You definitely would have to do your due diligence and find out as much as you can though.

I can see a scenario where I'm okay with Reddish being the pick, but if there's guys like Hunter, Culver or Garland on the board that have potential but are infinitely more proven, I'd be pretty annoyed.

Trade the pick for Ball if theres not Hunter, Culver, Garland. No need to risk on tier 3 prospects in Reddish unless you can trade down for #8 and #10.

It's a tough one. I agree with you about the tiers and about trading back if possible (though I think 8 and 10 is something ATL would absolutely hang the phone up on).

As for Ball, I like him as a prospect more than Reddish, White etc, for us in particular. But then there's also the fact of the additional salary we'd be taking on (he's on like 10m), and the fact that he's already 2 years in to his rookie deal.

For these reasons I would want additional value back, I think.

I think I'm growing ever more fond of Hachimura.

Sure, he doesnt fill a need, but he may just be BPA. From a business standpoint, it would sure also sell a ton of jerseys in Japan.

The kid also seems to have a drive to improve, hes a JNR so he fits right into the core age wise, and he seems fairly intelligent. NBAdraft has him as an Antawn Jamison comparison, which is good. I see a little Draymond in him though. Solid d. Great in transition. Seems like a good passer. Would perfectly compliment WCJ and Lauri or an excellent spark for the bench mob.

If Culver and White are gone, this may be the move.

His camp would’ve just said he had a promise and shut it down in that case.

I'm wondering if he had some bad private workouts.

Maybe he was always going to get this surgery, but after he had some bad workouts, they decide to do the surgery now to make it look like an excuse.

That's a really good point. Reddish getting surgery now is odd and it would only hurts his draft stock.
AKME? More like MEAK with how they're afraid to make a move to push us in one direction.

Aren't they theoretically shutting it down with that news?

They are, but again, why not just say you have a promise?

A promise sounds way better than an injury. You could still have the procedure, but it wouldn’t be the reason you’re shutting down workouts.

No doubt he was banged up. But very inconsistent play has always been a Cam thing. There was a moment at the start of his senior year that Cam got bumped up to the #1 ranking. Started off the season with a huge bang, but pulled a Cam and just faded away and slipped in the rankings because of that. Cam completely disappearing is nothing new and shouldn't just be chalked up to being banged up last year.

Updated since a while ago

1. Zion
2. Morant
3. Barrett
4. Garland
5. Hunter
6. Hayes
7. Reddish
8. Clarke
9. Bol Bol
10. Culver
11. Doumbouya
12. White
13. Little
14. Langford

Basically I can’t even be mad if the Bulls draft Reddish, because even with his enormous red flags, the draft is just so weak by the time you get to 7 everyone has major issues.

Do you think that those issues were exacerbated by potential injuries though? At least in HS he did something that got him percieved as a potential #1 for at least some of the time. Reddish was bad like 90% of his season at Duke, but 10% of the time he looked awesome. If that 10% of good play is a more frequent occurrence when healthy, perhaps he can still be a at times great, if inconsistent, NBA player.

At what point of this whole draft process will the Bulls start working out the guys at the top of the draft? I'd like to know who stands out in individual workouts

It could've. I just remember prior to this season talking about how this was a very likely scenario, so that is one of the reasons Im pretty hesitant on putting too much of the blame on his injury. Ive been a pretty harsh critic of Cam. But I definitely get why he's most likely going to be a top 10 pick and even possibly a top 5 pick. A long 6'8 wing that plays really good defense and with his form and touch, shouldn't be too long till he's a reliable knock down shooter, I expect a Bradley Beal level of jump shooter, Beal had very similar 3pt and FT stats in college and also was another guy easy to project as a shooter because his form and touch.

So if you give me a good versatile 6'8 defender that can shoot the 3, that alone is pretty good starter. If he can ever be consistent with his ability to create for himself off the dribble (more perimeter creativity than ability to attack the basket) that is a borderline all star. If he can get that down, plus show the PG and facilitating skills he had in high school, that is a stud player and why so many (including myself) had him as a possible #1 pick prior to the season.

I think Cam is the ultimate gamble. You take him 7th and he bombs (I think he has the highest bust factor), you're going to look like an idiot because all the signs pointed to him being a bust. But if he puts his game together (all things we have seen him do before) the dude could easily be the 2nd best player from this draft. I personally wouldnt take him top 10, but I can see why a team would do the gamble.

Wiretap reporting that Knicks are open to trading the third pick, especially if it's for both of Atlanta's picks. We can't beat that haul if ATL is interested, but if they pass I would consider trading 7 + next year's first round pick. Could be a risky gamble considering that the draft will become stronger next year, but Barrett is going to be significantly better than anyone we can grab this year and at least has All-Star potential.

I'm someone that thinks that move would be shortsighted, because I believe strongly in the depth of next years draft class, at least based on early impressions.

RJ is a guy I would take over all the guys we're discussing, for sure, but I don't think he's in another league as a prospect, he has plenty of warts. I'm not sure I'd ever trade next years pick, unprotected, for Morant either, and I really like Morant.

If we're 10-14 range next year, which I think is a fair estimation, I feel like there's a good chance we can pick up a player of equal value to what we're likely to get at 7 in this draft. A large contingent of that lottery talent are PG prospects as well, which suites our needs. So I would be disappointed on missing out on that opportunity, especially that it would be adding another young rookie scale piece.

You'd have to be convinced in star potential to move a future 1st imo. It was the right move to make last year for a Doncic/JJJ/Ayton talent, but we didn't do that then (I'm sure all of us would trade 7 in heartbeat now to swap WCJ for one of those guys, particularly the first two). From where we are now, I'd rather take the BPA at 7 and then look to package up in next years draft for our future answer at PG.

Im not an RJ fan but if you trade up he is your guy. Not against the proposed trade if the 1st round is top 10 protected.

Cam Bust Reddish continues to use the injury excuse to blame for his crappy college production and now his workout. Very positive at this point that this bum is going to fall hard on draft night.

Maybe that’s the reason why the Hawks are entering packaging both picks to move up to #3 instead of staying pat at #8 bc it’s now a 7 player draft.

I don't think getting surgery and missing all your individual workouts after a disappointing season is a means to boosting your draft stock. It's clearly a legitimate injury that needed treatment. Whether you think that contributed to the season he had is up to you.

The more i read about Culver, the more i like him for us. He's a good fit with our core with solid potential imo.

Hachimura is really interesting too. Has great tools to be a 2 way stud and his story points to him being a hardworker that would likely realize his potential.

If The Bulls draft Hunter, Culver or Reddish do they slowly bring them along? Next year the Bulls will have LaVine, Porter Jr, Chandler Hutchison and Denzel Valentine at the 2 and 3 positions.

Denzel Valentine will be a towel boy next year. And honestly, all positions are open for competition, including bench warmer spots.

I've never been a huge RJ fan, but even if you don't think of him as a future franchise cornerstone it still is a lot easier to envision him as a centerpiece of a major trade down the line than it is for guys at the White, Reddish, Little tier. To me the biggest downside is that with the new lottery system, a projected late lotto pick become a good draft pick, so you'd need to make sure the appropriate protections are on it.

The best lowest ranked player and probably the sleeper pick of this draft is Brandon Clarke. 6-8, 210, PF/C - Gonzaga
Troll me now, see you at the end of next season. There are a few certain key stats I consider and he knocks it out of the park looking at those.

Time will tell, just going on record now. Love this guy!

I've been mentioning him as well. To me, it's pretty clear that he's going to end up being a bigger impact player than anyone we'll draft. I don't care if we have two young bigs already, there's enough minutes for the three of them. That said, Minnesota seems like a great landing spot for him.
