Knicks’ interest in Kawhi been known for weeks.

I'm not paranoid at all. I'm reading between the lines here just like every single one of us are doing because not one single one of us have any idea at all what any free agent is actually gonna do. All any of us do is read twitter and any other social media and try to come up with reasons why that rumor could be true or just click bait. This Knicks interest in Kawhi hasn't been out for weeks like it is right now with it getting in the New York papers. This rumor of the Knicks saying they're gonna get a interview with Kawhi is new.

Or, maybe it was just the news needing to write a sports story before the deadline, so they printed "KNICKS are interested in Kawhi" -- even though EVERY team is interested in Kawhi.

I agree 100%. I didn't say it was true, i just said if it was true that it actually would make sense.

I'm not saying it's true because i have no way at all of knowing the truth just like anyone else but it does make sense.

We have insider info that the Knicks have been in contact with Kawhi's camp for 2 weeks though and that the leak is strategic.

Um... yeah. I think all 3 Nets fans do!

There are fewer Nets fans than there are Nets players.

However, that could still change — if the roster limit is brought down to 11 on the next CBA.

Knicks-Nets is not even Giants-Jets or Yankees-Mets. It's ×100 worse, imo.

I’m from Brooklyn man. I would never call the Nets my team. It’s deeply rooted. They would never take or fans.

He is convinced that they would never put that out if they were still thinking they were getting KD. I actually thought the same thing when that rumor came out about Kawhi. Why would they wait until now to let it be known that they're interested in Kawhi when they could of done that weeks ago? I agree with this guy and think they did get word that KD isn't coming to the Knicks so they quickly went to the next best option which is obviously Kawhi.

My take is that its not the Knicks that issued that release to the press, but the Warriors' front office, why? To create distractions.
It's common practice between teams in high stakes and one that the 90's Knicks durung a ECF series employed.
Michael and the Bulls were playing I believe in NY game 2 and it was released that morning in the tabloids that Michael was in Atlantic City the night before.

The Bulls lost that one and MJ went back to Chicago with a hord of reporters painfully hounding him about the report.
Instead of a distraction, Michael got pissed and the rest is history.

The Knicks organization is one of the most secretive in sports. Trust me they are not worried about the Nets news. They are really comfortable having young stars and lots of pics.

For contemplation.
Perhaps they've already told Kyrie's reps they're not interested. And for the same reason why Kyrie is really not tied seriously to LA. Boston got worse this year and looking at Kyrie's past, me? I'll stick with DAngelo Russell's develop into a stud. He's waaaaayy younger and hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

The Knicks are an attractive team right now, with a potential of putting together 3 all-NBA players. No other team has those assets.

The Nets have no more assets to bring in another alpla dog. So its Kyrie, but sacrificed DRuss in the process. If this all pans out, the Nets make take a step back, in their long-term future.

If you been listening to Cris Carter who talks to uncle Dennis often .. we always approached Kawhi with the idea of being paired with KD.. never coming by himself.

Yeah... free agency doesn't look like it's going to turn out well for us. Let's gas up that tank.

Good post. But I'm not sure what you mean by the last paragraph. If you mean that KI and DLo can't play together productively ... meh ... that might be right. I guess they would have to try and see. If you mean that they have to renounce DLo to get another max there .. that's not necessarily so, I believe. I believe it would depend on what deals a team with a leaving FA max would do as sign-and-trade.

From Ian begley
Rival teams with interest in Kyrie Irving are operating under the assumption that the Brooklyn Nets are the odds-on favorite to sign him.

Sources say the probability of Irving re-signing with the Boston Celtics is "low." Irving hasn't ruled out any potential suitors, according to people around him.
