People saying the Fans cheered for getting the ball are deluding themselves. The fans were cheering for getting the ball it's true, but once they saw KD hobbling and needing help they went into a complete frenzy 10x louder than before. So don't be apologetic for them.

It is understandable in the heat of the moment the Raptors basically though they won the Finals, and they didn't do it as much as from wishing KD being seriously hurt, but because they felt that they can definetly win no. No excuse ofc, just say it how it was

I mean... a sports arena in general isn’t gonna be a majority highly intelligent crowd ... and a sports game itself doesn’t bring out the best in people. The point’s to get drunk and rowdy.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on Toronto being an exceptionally classless crowd. It’s ridiculous. You’ll find disrespectful sports fan anywhere in the world.

You mean more than a few fans cheering the career altering injury of an opposing player? Seems like you're the one trying to distract.

1) No one knew it was career-altering until an hour later.
2) There was only a few known to be taunting.
3) Can you quote anyone on the board that were happy about it?

I am by no means a Raptors fan but I am a people fan and trying to run down a fanbase because of some hyped up morons is really not fair.

All I can hope is that most of them didn't realize how serious of an injury it was but even then it's still a bad look. It's not all Raptor fans but it is a symptom of an immature fanbase already too caught up in their own 'glory'. It definitely paints a different narrative of this series & the Warriors injury problems as this is going to be one of the first things people remember whether the Raps win the series or not which is unfortunate for this stellar Raptors squad since they really had nothing to do with that. The injury changes the narrative on KD as a guy a lot fans perceived lacked heart and commitment to his team too, it's quite a 180 of opinions.

People are the same everywhere. Every fanbase has douche bags. There's nothing special about Raptors fans vs Celtics fans vs Jazz fans.

Remember when Jazz fans booed Derek Fisher for leaving to get his daughter better medical treatment? Remember how there have been racial slurs slung by different fanbases? Are those fanbases all scum? No.

**** people exist everywhere. Give me a break.

I'm pretty sure that all 50 of us Nets fans would not have cheered about a player being injured.

And if you upped that number to 50,000? If you changed the demographic from 16-21 (most of what Jurassic Park is).'

If you took a random sample of sports fans, from any city, and put the same exact environmental and other factors at play, you'd get the same response.

There's nothing MAGICALLY in the water of Toronto. Humans are humans, people are people, mob mentality happens.

It's embarrassing.

We don't have 50,000 fans though

in all seriousness, I don't think you would get the same response at all though from everywhere. We see players injured all the time in pro sports and I'm hard pressed to compare another situation like that to what transpired last night.

I've seen dudes have gruesome injuries on both the basketball court and football field and I can't recall people rabidly cheering a downed player's injury like that. Usually what follows is not joy and adulation. That was NOT the norm last night.

Right, so what's the theory on Toronto being this magically different place that generates magically different people that are somehow worse individuals?

I'm not calling people in Toronto worse. All I'm saying is that you will be very hard pressed to find another scene like you did last night. It's not up to me to answer why Raptor fans decided to behave like that or took some joy in someone being hurt.

Toronto is a huge city full of all kinds of people no different then huge cities everywhere. The whole US perception of Canadians being super polite is nonsense...trust me as someone whos lived in Canada my whole life mostly near Toronto thats complete crap.

Now Toronto is a great city...but its full of good people, bad people, crazy people, etc just like anywhere else. I think after Toronto made the finals and somehow managed to celebrate with zero arrests...that gave people an unrealistic view of the city. People are people no matter where they live.

It wasn't a gruesome injury though. I'm sure a lot of people didn't even know what happened.

If it was gruesome injury like PG or Shaun Livingston then you would've probably been able to hear pin drop.

That's a fact. Toronto does have class. We obviously didn't show it last night but to say we would do the same thing if it was an apparent gruesome injury is stretching it my friend.

It wasn't just a "few" fans though, it was thousands of people, they were even chanting "F**K KD" in Jurassic park. There's more than enough clips now to see it wasn't just a few people......

https://streamable.com/9hmpp

Just like in the arena, they started to cheer when he limped which is exactly when the Raptor players told them to stop.

It was more than a few, that's hyperbole. The point is that it's still a small proportion, players and media have not bought into this story. Only this board seems to irrationally care even though no one can point to a single poster that cheered on the boards.

This is the "Warriors are dirty players" or the "stay classy Cleveland" moment that happens every year when people cling to a reason to tarnish the excited fans of the championship team. At least it's consistent I guess.

So there has to be a theory as to why Toronto fans would respond that way, but others wouldn't.

Exactly. I dont even think a bunch of you really are affected if some foolish Fans in the Arena cheered for KD's injury or not...

.. Certain guys just saw a nice big Raptor Fan hate circlejerk and are just using this to continue to hate what you already hated.

So please, do go on. The Raptors are focusing whats on the Court, while your Media continues to talk about whats off the Court.

You sure are on a mission. It doesn't matter how many idiots cheering that you post it still won't represent the whole fan base. No one is defending the people who cheered for an Injury. What are you trying to prove? I'm not sure I understand your point anymore.

I don't get why people assume you have to literally name every fan of the team and show they're a bad person to say a fanbase is toxic for their actions as a fanbase.

Outside of Philly and Boston (both known for having the worst fanbases in the 2 other major professional sports) who else has done this?

We know this isn't true, there is tons of footage of other teams fans celebrating injuries like jerks. Hell KC celebrated their own QB getting hurt one year. Sports fans can be horrible but hardly means a whole fan base is.

I don't know why Toronto fans decided that someone's safety and health were less important than getting a leg up in a game that their team went on to ultimately lose. I can't answer that.

Exactly, you can't. Because humans are humans and every fanbase would have reacted the same way.

Or can we focus on how the fans gave him a standing ovation as he left and chanted his name. Or no, does that not fit the scum narrative that people are pushing here?

Don't need the names of every fan, just looking for one poster.

What other evidence do you have to suggest that Raptors fanbase are toxic? Is it just this or are there more incidents?
