HOU gets Smart, Yabu, Williams, #20
NOP gets Capela, Brown, #14, #22
BOS gets Davis
Houston finds a cheaper replacement for Capela in FA (Dedmon, Ed Davis, RoLo, DAJ, Boogie?) while they groom Williams. They're stuck with CP's albatross contract and there's not much means to add rotation guys. They can pair Smart w/ Harden if they load manage the crap out of Paul. Maybe he's a 6th man who plays 20-25 a night, takes some nights off until the playoffs. Draft an NBA-ready rook with #20.
Pelicans get a fringe all-star in Capela who will work well with Jrue Holiday in the PnR and pair well with Zion defensively. Brown, while flawed, is a playoff-tested two-way player who can still rise to being a future all-star. His RFA status makes him less attractive (but same can be said about Ingram, who has health issues to boot). Draft well with #14, #22 or flip for vets.
Boston gets their prize without giving up Tatum and the Memphis pick.
The key here is convincing Morey that is enough return for Capela lol. 1st-team All-Defense player who can bother the Warriors and Blazers backcourt and a great switch/team defender. A project with high upside in Williams. And draft compensation. If they're not trying to trade Capela, then I just wasted a lot of words convincing myself that this could be our way to get AD.
Or does Griffin like Smart over Capela?
