I’m not the biggest fan either BUT there is no such thing as a 19 or 20 year old bust.

I can think of plenty of guys who were obviously busts at age 19 or 20. Knox isn't quite there yet but he's really damn close

I gotta admit I'd hate to see the Nets do big things while we dont but this thread was about the Lakers and Celtics. But even so what exactly are you prescribing. That the Knicks take yet thier 10th attempt at trading the farm or chasing shiny aging injured stars?

What lessons have you guys been trying to teach Knicks fans all these years if not to stay away from these exact situations? Should we do it and fail will any of you say " oh well, I wouldve made the same decision so I guess they arent still a mismanaged franchise"? Why dont the Hawks have to make a big splash in FA, why dont the Suns, Bulls.

The Nets are in the position they are in because they did exactly what the Knicks need to do. Stay quiet, hide in the shadows. Pounce when the time is right. The time was never right for the Knicks.

I actually agree with what you said earlier, and continue with the youth movement. But the leadership has to go. Front office needs to be cleaned out and an effort to force Dolan to sell the team.

Well dont quit now cuz I think they got something in Perry and Mills. I think Mills has done everything to listen and try to think like a small market team. Of course Durant goes live and you gotta try. EVERYONE who can try should try but the second that's not an option IMO it's like shark tank. I'm out, walk away.

However and I'm sorry guys, this isnt a Knick thread it's a Lakers/Celtic/AD thread. I'd be happy to help facilitate by absorbing salary for some manner of pick or rookie scale player with potential. Thank you, you got my number.

I don't see how he doesn't end up on the Lakers, even Bill Simmons agrees.

Unless a team comes out of nowhere and offers the farm for AD (a desperate team similar to Toronto last year for Kawhi), the Lakers hold all of the leverage in an AD trade. Boston is bluffing and would be idiotic to trade Tatum + assets for a 1-year rental of Davis. Kyrie is going to Brooklyn. New York is now hesitant to trade for Davis because Davis wants to team up with another superstar. Kemba Walker isn't that, as good as he is. Davis wants to play with James of the Lakers. The Lakers can offer the most because they're the most confident he'll re-sign long-term.

A combination of Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Hart, the 4th pick, future picks, Wagner, Bonga and Caruso for Davis should get the job done. Lakers might have to absorb more salary than they wanted to with Davis' contract, so they probably won't have enough for Jimmy Butler or Tobias Harris. Someone like Nik Vucevic, Al Horford, or JJ Redick seem much more realistic.

lot of people thought PG was a sure thing too and he had a CHOICE

ADs trade situation controlled by the pels who already trolled the lakers once. there is no good intention from either team no matter how badly they want this deal done.

Maybe its now worth it for the Celtics to gamble on AD considering the west looks weaker and the champs might end up losing their best player. Cant always have your cake and eat it too, maybe you can win a ship next season with AD and keep the lakers a year away from being serious contenders. You possibly then lose AD to the lakers but you get to hang another banner.

Feels like the trade is dead. Most legitimate trades happen in a flash and they come out of nowhere. The trades that don't happen are the ones that get talked about a lot. Just an observation, what do I know.

Nah - their expectations are different now. They’ve been terrible for too long and are about to strike out

But we've also said just that many times over and still suck for a long time. Rebuilding is the only thing we've ever done differently and being thirsty to sign injured max players has been done many times over as well. I'd rather keep doing things different. I mean sure, I wouldve loved a healthy Durant but I thibk it would be a major success if we didn't immediately go to option B, then C, then D, then E.

Everybody felt, including rival fanbases that the Knicks finally were on the right track with attempting to rebuild. Same haters bashed us for our typical NY assumptions of getting Kyrie and Durant even though it was the media feeding us. But now it's a disaster if we don't stay the original course? Were literally following your advice

Just because they’re trending upwards doesn’t justify striking out this summer - and especially to a cross-town rival.

Can’t let the Nets dictate what we do.

Stay the course, our time will come. Add a young talent in Barrett. Build from there.

I’d grab some vets with the cap space to help mentor the young guys, trade them off around the deadline to playoff teams and continue trying to find some young guys who can develop into decent role players.

Some of the crap Vegas makes odds on is funny to me. So are there really people placing bets on where someone like Brandon Ingram is going to play next year? Lol.

Like can I make such a bet on any random NBA player?

Barrett
Knox
Robinson

As the foundation going forward. Continue to build from there until these kids develop.

We need to stop chasing free agents.

At the start of last year you would have listed Porzingis as your clear foundational piece.

Now the only player you got in his trade is not a foundational piece. So it was basically Kristaps for 2 (very likely) non lottery picks and a THjr salary dump.

You guys don't really have anything yet. We though Michael Bealey was a foundational piece. Out of the 3 guys you listed, the only solid NBA level skill that has been proven to this point is Mitchell Robinson's shot blocking.

Kuzma is a decent, developing player but the rest of the names being thrown at the Pels are trash compared to his talent level.

Develop these kids. Continue to build until it all comes together. Utilize free agency at the right time.

How do Chicago fans feel about this deal?

Seems crazy that Lakers get to keep Ingram, means Lakers won't be in the max FA market anymore though. They do get to keep the iso scorer in Ingram, so they only need 3+D PG and a 3+D wing.

Not a Bulls fan, but Bulls FO is either drunk at the wheel or it's complete nonsense.

Lavine to move up 3 spots, Hill's +13mn and Ball.

Are Lakers' cheerleaders that bored on the internet?

Well they already wanted Lonzo for pick 7.

So this deal is really pick 4 and Hill for LaVine. They might see Garland as a better version of LaVine, taking 1 year of Hill and 4 years of Garland is cheaper than LaVines contract and Garland is locked in.

I mean they get a core of Lonzo, Garland, Lauri, Carter for another 5 years minimum. They have Porter as the SF for 3.

Seems like a good move for them.
