What? Howard was coming off a back injury and from then on was not half the player AD is.

AD hasn't played a full season in his entire career. Nobody thought Howard was done when the Lakers traded for him. It just turned out poorly. The point is the Lakers had a similar situation in the past that blew up on them. To think this is a lock for a finals trip is ridiculous. If it's just aging LeBron and AD I don't think the Lakers are likely to make the finals. They are a definite contender though.

Those Lakers also had a better supporting cast. I'm guessing the win total estimates for the two teams entering the season would favor the Kobe/Howard Lakers.

I don't think it's a lock for the Finals by any means.

But why should I believe AD won't be the same great player he has been for the past 7 seasons? At 26 years old?

Comparing him to Howard is ridiculous. They are two totally different players and situations. Just because they both went to the Lakers, you're going to expect the same thing will happen?

Dumb man. Just dumb. AD will in all likelihood be a top 7 player next year at worst. 90% of basketball enthusiasts would bet on that.

Houston is still better. Gsw were their kriptonite. I think they should be the favorites to come out of the west

Its about damn time this trade got down, we have our franchise guy going forward it seems. I'm so damn happy.

Its a steep price (3 freaking firsts, not thrilled about that) but keeping Kuzma is important.

Its a good haul for the Pels however, If Ingram gets a good shooting coach, same for Lonzo, this is an absolute win for them (that backcourt will be nasty regardless).

That however means we're out of the draft, which honestly i don't mind that much other than maybe missing out on RJ possibly. I'd love to see us try and get Hachimura, Langford or Bol Bol but at least now we have a max slot, you know what that means.

Whatcha got? I wouldn’t try sending Eric Gordon just due to past issues but other assets would probably be considered.

I doubt it. Kuzma fits better with Lebron and AD and Ingram also has that blood clot issue. They are saying it is not that bad but who knows.

Dude. Anthony Davis is a 28/10 big man and a top 5-7 player in the league.
In the climate of a non-GS NBA, he and LeBron are the best duo in the league.
Add another All-Star caliber player in a Butler or Kemba, in free agency and it's not even close.

And the Rockets are in shambles

Everyone else out West is a second round exit. With the GS injuries, their is a void left that will be filled by LeGM and his minions. How people cannot see this is beyond me. Must think KD and Klay are coming back.
We're talking about a team that missed the playoffs by quite a few games with Lebron James on their roster. They just traded damn near every player they have. Anthony Davis is the most overrated player in the NBA. If you truly think they have a shot at a title with Lebron, AD and a bunch of journeymen. Then I dont even know what to tell you. They are going to be improved, they'll probably make the playoffs. But the west is brutal.

Irving was the reason we don’t have AD. I am sure there was an ultimatum asked. I think Boston Dje st even meet with Kyrie and moves on.

Ingram is clearly going to be a better player and he's over 2 years younger.

My gosh, he just got a group of promising young players and 3 future firsts one of which is #4 this year. I haven't seen the protections on the other 2 firsts but if they aren't protected and if one of them isn't due for 4 years that could be a very high pick since it will be the year after lebron's deal is up. Typically his former teams tank very hard the year after he leaves.

I honestly don't know how Grif could have done any better than he just did. I think that was a hell of a deal for the Pels

I thought Lakers players were trash? That's what posters kept on saying. They didn't get kuzma like being offered in February , so pels got a worse deal today.

If Lakers get Davis last year they finish with a better record and don't get a 4th pick in the draft. :banghead:

He was hurt down the stretch and didn't play much

I don't understand why everyone resorts to straw man so quickly online. Dumb man, just dumb to put words in my mouth.

I never said AD was going to turn into Howard. I said you can't assume the team is a lock to the finals because we've seen a similar situation turn out terrible. You agree with me but can't even see that because you are so desperate to defend your team. We both think they aren't a lock for the finals and both think they will be contenders.

Ball - A solid PG who still has various question marks about him.
Ingram - Do we even know the status of his career?
Hart- A fine role player.

This is what we call kids a solid trade on paper alone.
Aside from the #4 pick I cant find anything of franchise altering value here (the other picks aint landing anywhere near the lottery).
I know the Pelicans we're in a **** position here but at least get Kuzma to save face.

Don't think Lakers wanted to pay Ingram $20MM next year so I'm not sure that's 100% true

By the way, I wonder if Popazit is gonna snivel about this deal, too. F U, Pop!

This helps make FA's forget our longterm incompetence in the Front Office in a BIG way. Bigly. That's the sleeper aspect I've yet to see in this thread. Now they suddenly look like a team that is legitimately getting it's Title ducks in a row.

If Kawhis stays and defends his title against these Lakers where does he jump to all time

Top 10 all time for prime and top 3 for peak with Duncan and jordan sounds about right. The only thing he's missing on his resume right now is a regular season MVP, I wonder how many games he plays next year. Gasol can do a good job guarding Anthony davis I'm sure.
