Apart from ring-chasing vets who might settle for the minimum, there's always the buyout market. You can luck out with a serviceable veteran that's being benched on a rebuilding team.

One injury to Lebron or AD might book their ticket to lotteryville though. Look at what just happened to the Warriors. You still need depth behind those superstars.

6M for JJ Redick on 2 year deal.
7m for D rose on 2 year deal
6m for Seth Curry on 2 year deal
5 m for Robin Lopez on 1 year deal
vet min for J. Crawford
vet min for C. Anthony
vet min for wilson chandler

I mean, it can be done.

Rose/Crawford
Reddick/Curry
James/Chandler
Anthony/Kuzma
AD/Lopez
Rest of the roster

Team has a 2 year window.

Lopez should easily get around 10 mils/2 years. He can shoot and from what I saw put in a lots of effort into defense. Showed some hustle. I'd bet Seth gets more, too.

I actually expect the Lakers to pay 13-14 mils to M Morris and bring in antoher guy with him ala Curry or B Lopez but that will be it. They will use their MLE and fill out the roster with vets. I think the reason Rich Paul wanted Morris as his client is cause LBJ likes him. Anyways why are we discussing the Lakers in our team's offseason thread. They can do whatever they wanna do. Btw if the Lakers don't sign a guy like Morris Kuzma and LBJ will be in some big time trouble on defense.

They can't use MLE and cap space. They do have a room exception like the one we used a few years back as I think Sully mentioned. 3-4m I think? We used it on Baynes first 1 year deal.

Or give them all to Smart, Terry, Jaylen, Jayson, Gordon and probably one of our picks.
Then Semi.

LA won’t have the MLE

Kyrie for DAR, RHJ for the MLE, and a brief division rivalry before Kyrie fattens up like Deron Williams

Plus our rookies.. occurred to me though that we could probably trade Semi (team option) to OKC for the 21st pick

Wonder what Ainge has planned for the draft? If we go euro stash at 14, it is gonna be a long summer.

Remember, too, that Brad went out of his way to compliment Semi on how much he had improved this season and his regrets on not being able to get him more minutes. Semi deserves a shot after all the anecdotes about weight-room grunting we've had to endure.

They took out Dakota Randall’s byline just as I was about to ask, who the hell is Dakota Randall and how the hell do they get paid just to write up articles on Steve Kyler’s c-list tweets?

Cs don't need another wing. If they're going to acquire someone, it better be an attacking guard who's a willing passer and a rim-protecting big who gobbles up rebounds. Preferably high IQ and low maintenance.

If we lose Kyrie and renegotiate Horford, we could be far enough under the cap to absorb Zach Lavine without having to match salary, and we could still trade Smart/Yabu(/Williams?) for Capela.. Would three 1sts be enough for Chicago? The MEM pick? They seem very eager to dump his money..

Lavine/Jaylen/Hayward/Horford/Capela, Tatum as sixth man backup at three positions..

Why?

I mean, I wouldn't trade any combination of players or picks to have to pay Lavine that money, and you want to give up the griz pick for him.. wtf.

He averaged 4.5 assists last year, great shooting percentages, improving as a defender, only makes 18 million.. Wondering if Chicago wants him out because they think he was the ringleader in the team rebellion against against Boylan, or if they’re just willing to move him for high value - but he’s not the player he was in Minnesota.

Yeah all good points. Maybe not the type of guy we need to add to this crew.

Looks like a player who’s going to do the work to get better on defense..

Move 1. Smart, 22 & Yabs for Capela.
Move 2. Horford opts out and signs elsewhere.
Move 3. C's sign DAR, with cap space.

Capela, Hayward, Tatum, Brown & DAR, and no bench lol.

The current rumor is Lavine to Cleveland for Jordan Clarkson and the 5.. the one before that was Lonzo/4 for Lavine/7 as a third team in the AD trade.. I’m not off on value.

Tatum as a super sub is a different argument..

You'd love wasting cap space and multiple first round picks (including the Memphis pick) for a no-defense inefficient scorer?

If Horford comes completely off the books, we’d have enough space to either keep the holds for Rozier, Morris and Theis and get DAR, or to sign different players for the bench. So that’s not a worst-case scenario - the worst would be Horford leaving and no one like Russell coming here as a free agent.
