We wouldn’t be able to get Kemba if we got those guys. I think Ainge knew for months now that Kyrie was off the table and Kemba was a possibility. IMO, that is why it seemed like the Celtics never panicked when I was wondering why we weren’t even considering Kyrie deals at the deadline. I wanted Kyrie gone back then as well. Happy how this is turning out.

Maybe you could make the argument that SGA and Harrell is better long term for the team than either Kemba or Kyrie. I doubt that offer was on the table, though..

See you in Brooklyn except you’ll probably duck us and that’s cool.

We’ll always have that ad you made with your dad on our court, before he told you to come home to play and you were like yup.

Kyrie is not half the player KG was. Or three-quarters of Paul Pierce.

You are 100% correct. I probably should have said ‘skilled’ rather than ‘talented’. I definitely did NOT mean ‘best’!

You too are 100% correct. I’ve never seen a guy, including Larry Bird, get so much from his skill level despite mediocre athletic ability. That Bird did it as a 6-10 SF is less surprising because to be that skilled and that big..... is so rare that we are talking Dirk, KD, Magic and Lebron rare. For Kyrie to be able to get by multiple defenders and finish at rim over elite shot blockers mainly because he is a master of deception, literally dribbles as if ball is on a string and is a master of changing angle of his shot at an instant.....is truly amazing. How many little guys have ever done that without Rondo like speed or Westbrook like explosiveness?

Unfortunately, all that skill doesn’t necessarily make him a good teammate, a leader or a true #1 guy. But it’s still pretty amazing to watch. And I’m a hater.

Kyrie is so talented - if he gets Durant he will win championships. Too bad Brad couldn't handle his ego - and it also sucks that he hated Boston.

I agree Kyrie is extremely talented. In my view, still a top 2 PG in the NBA tied with Lillard for 2nd just behind Curry.

But will a KD and Kyrie team really win a chip? KD will be like 32 the next time he plays..coming off a full missed season. If he even loses one step, is that any better than Westbrook and KD both in their primes? They need a 3rd guy to even have a chance IMO.

If I was KD I'd take the GS money and hide behind a real number one like Curry..or go to the Clips with Kawhi.

It’s going to be a replay of Boston when Durant comes back and needs a full season to recover like Hayward. Even when athletes return from Achilles - especially older ones like KD, the average career lasts only another 2 years. It’ll be fun to see the Nets turn into a mediocre capped out team like the Knicks have been for 25 years. It will also be fun to see 2 of the worst teammates in NBA turn on each other.

When Kawhi goes to Lakers, KD and Kyrie aren’t winning squat. Neither will C’s.

I do agree with you that Kyrie doesn't appear to be a great run/jump athlete by PG standards and he doesn't appear to be super strong either. Nevertheless, Kyrie does appear to have pretty darn good speed/change of speed/quickness -- I think those things alongside his shooting/dribbling helped him become the #1 pick in the draft. Bird also had good first step quickness in the first half of his career at least.

Personally speaking and I may be letting my own circumstances cloud my judgement but I tend to think coordination/ball handling is mostly just an athletic gift. If you don't have long arms, it really becomes difficult to be a great dribbler.

Still to be seen: whether Kyrie's knees hold up till KD comes back from his injury at 32, and how well KD does come back at that age.

Durant was a given with the Nets. He can rehab their for a year and be close to the Dr that performed his surgery. That dr is with the Nets medical staff as I had mentioned about 3 weeks ago.

GS is no more. Happy about that.

Durant most likely with get back to being 80-85% of the player he was. The Nets will enjoy Kyrie.

Ok, now that its official - let's all make a pact:

LET'S NOT BE LIKE UTAH JAZZ FANS AND HOW THEY ACTED AFTER GORDON HAYWARD LEFT.

I think we're all happy that Kyrie is gone and we got Kemba. Time to move on.

Return to Boston Celtics
