I'm pretty sure he was talking to Kawhi.

I've yet to see CSB and Kawhi in the same room together so...

And what is the long-term plan to sell him on? Team has a ton of cap room next summer, but there is no one to spend it on.

They are toast.

While I'm not confident Kawhi will stick around, I'm not so down on the Raps' future. Lowry, VanVleet and Gasol are guys who should be willing to sign reasonable long term deals, Siakam should have trade value if he doesn't want to sacrifice the max offer he has coming to him. Kawhi would theoretically be able to recruit FAs. The Raps GM (Bobby Chapman?) seems solid.

Hypothetically, they could trade Gasol and Ibaka and Siakam at the deadline for Steven Adams and Paul George.

I read a rumor before the Raps beat the Ws that Kawhi had decided that he would stay in Toronto - at least for one season - as he didn't want to leave the team hanging. It wasn't necessarily credible, but it read as credible to me. On one hand, now that the Raps have won, he might not feel such a responsibility any more. On another hand, it wouldn't surprise me if he has been meeting teams with next offseason in mind, and give a year to see if the Raps can establish the ground work for some sort of dynasty before he decides to move on.

Agree 100% that team is gonna kill the regular season. May get #1 seed. See a potential WCF birth. Deep, added some playmakers to a pretty bland roster

I like what they are doing, but I think they're lacking in talent. Depth is great for the regular season but doesn't mean much in the playoffs.

Conley (32 next season)
Mitchell
Boggoxondvic (nice pickup honestly, Jaylen Brown made him look like a Dleaguer in the playoffs tho)
Ingels?
Gortat

That's a fine starting lineup. That's not winning much though. Kind of reminds me of a team molded in the Hawks 60 win team style.

It's well balanced with talent all around it just... doesn't seem to have that star you know? It sure will win a lot of regular season games though.

Yep, not handing them the title or anything. But, for not being a FA destination, they're having a pretty good summer.

Good summer but they are obviously mortgaging some of their future with Conley trade which is fine since most teams have to go for it once in a while if you want to have a chance.

If Leonard chooses Lakers, Utah probably can't beat healthy LA and needs to hope for some sort of Laker injury but otherwise they will be a tough out.

I like this Jazz team much more than the Hawks of a few years ago since I think they have more of pathway to winning it all with perhaps a few more minor additions. They should be able to play high level halfcourt basketball and realistically even if Lakers get Leonard, there won't really be a great team out there that can attack their weaknesses at a high level like Golden State could with KD. That Hawks team was a fraud IMHO since they couldn't rim protect that well against elite competition. This Utah team I believe will be able to do so.

Bojan Bogdanovic still averaged 18 PPG vs Celtics with a TS% that was mediocre(.511%) but not that bad at all considering the circumstances. I don't think that is bad at all considering it wasn't just Jaylen Brown covering him, the guy was the focus of Celtics defense since Indiana was without Oladipo. Given the circumstances, I think that Indiana series helped Boganovic instead of hurting him. He will obviously do better at the 3A/3B option.

So they have helicopters following Kawhi and are staking out hotels? No way Toronto isn’t a cult and they view Kawhi as some sort of diety. It’s going to be rough for them if the guy leaves

Rooting for the Raptors to re-sign Kawhi, just because I don't believe the Clippers are even in this any more. Two team race, imo.

Same here. I think unless he leg just gives out on him and prevents him from playing, Leonard is taking less of a chance on his health than folks imagine in a 1 + 1 deal.

Even if he blows out his achilles, he is still strong/long/excellent shooter and a bit younger than KD. That stuff alone probably gets some team offering him 3/100 after next year even if he blows out his achilles half way through the season. He would still have 2 Finals MVPs on different teams.

As of right now, the Celtics can't. Maybe the Celtics decide to put their chips on the table to become much more competitive.

I believe Philly/Milwaukee/Toronto all possibly being very good next year and Brooklyn at least looming is kind of a good thing for he Celtics. Celtics need to be woken up a little bit to truly choose a direction. The K Walker move is a win now move but without doing several other moves, it will obviously lead nowhere.

So long as it isn't the Lakers, I'm happy. If the Raptors can prevent the Lakers from getting banner #12, I'd be really happy.

Josh Jackson traded with Melton for Korver who will be waived. Imagine if C’s listened to DraftExpress and DraftNet and we had Josh Jackson/Dragan Bender instead of Brown/Tatum/Langford.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I think I'd be tempted to put Indiana above us too, even with Dipo out till December. I just don't have much faith in our defense down low.

What direction could they really take this summer though?

If you go full youth movement, you pay Jaylen next summer, Tatum the one after and you're capped out. You're the Wizards.

Walker is signed for 4 years. You have 2-3 years to become a contender with him, basically. If not, you just stay afloat, which isn't great, and you're banking a ton on Tatum.

But you might as well sign Kemba; we still have assets available for the next star available (KAT?). The Pels have more assets than you but that's it.

The Nets also just proved that you can be an average team and attract free agents vs a tanking one like the Knicks, since your reputation around the league is higher. The Nets, who have basically zero fans, still beat the glitz and glamour franchise because of their "culture". There's clearly value now to being good vs. just tanking.

Jalen has been wrong enough times to question what he says.

I mean, it’s not really that hard atm to pick since you have a 33.333% chance of getting it right between the 3 teams

At what point does Silver step in and fix the Suns? lol, what a floundering mess of an offseason. Dude's either an evil genius beyond the rest of the NBA's comprehension or he doesn't know what he's doing.
